The most important thing is that the bands are not responsible for this to happen; at least most of them. All of the three shown bands were „underground“ or at least not very well known scene diamonds. They were like some insider tips in the core scene and now they blew up like that and get hate for that. The music isn’t more bad or different just because some baddies listen to it too nowadays.

Hey Finn, Hoping you see this. This video is a great tie in to your "hardcore" dancing video and the reason is that I'm really active in the hardcore, beatdown, metal scene in my area and I've noticed a lot more women coming out to show with like these usually heavy bands. The kind of bands you associate with your beer drinking battle vest metal head kind of guys. Which is great I hope that my confusion doesn't get misinterpreted as being vindicative. And every time we're doing our thing, windmillin', two stepping, (hell I've seen this with circle pits) where you'll see all the "baddies" have this look of disdain or fear like one of the moshers are going to snap and just attack them. Point being is it's kind of changing the scene. So some of the remarks you made in the last video and this video are true. These people get really into an artist from seeing them wherever and come to the shows and are appalled that people want to go out and dance and have fun. Whether that's good or bad we'll leave it for the comments but it's not as fun.

Finn needs to do a serious video about the gender disparity in Metal. I mean - less than 1/5 of Metal fans are female - and the question is... how much of that disparity is nature and how much is nurture? Will there ever be a future where it's an even 50/50 or is there something inherent - generally speaking - about the differences between males and females, that will always result in there being a disparity? My take is that some degree of the disparity is social conditioning aka "nurture" - but it just seems way too wide a disparity to be accounted for by that alone. Maybe testosterone levels... different factors. What do you think?

I think the problem is the weird gate keeping that men do with metal. That and two things happen. Guys will either grill the shit out of them and say “oh, you like this band? Name x amount of songs.” Or they hound them for attention like dogs and scare them away. Girls in metal are so niche dudes don’t know what to do with themselves. Also, metal guys tend to veer more towards the music as opposed to wanting to find a sexual opportunity. You don’t go to a metal show looking to get laid. You go to a club to most certainly to get laid.

I just heard SOAD one time and loved metal ever since. But also bringing up testosterone is interesting because I've always had high testosterone levels for a woman but I'm not sure how big of an impact that has

I am from a far far faaar away place, but the metal scene down here has been attracting more and more women in the last, say, 5 years or so, without the need of local baddies or thirst traps. Sure the male to female ratio it's still smth around 3:1 but you can definitely tell there's a difference with what it was in the 2010's. A lot more girls involved in music projects too, which is pretty cool.

Stuff like MF Doom, Madlib, J Dilla, Slum Village, Little Brother, etc. A lot of classic hip-hop can be lumped in with this too: Pete Rock and CL Smooth, Gang Starr, A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Wu-Tang, etc. It's called backpack rap because of DJs (and, now, record nerds) with backpacks full of records for breaks and samples. The music is great and is quite influential but the fanbase can be quite annoying on many levels. White liberals, psuedo-intellectuals, pretentious record collectors, hipsters, and the whole NPR crowd lap this stuff up.
