It cracks me up every time I see a dog Vanessa is grooming do the, "no thank you," paw, because my cat is so crazy about being brushed will use his paw to hook my arm and drag my hand to the spot he wants if I don't clue in. I do this thing where each time I hold the brush up in front of him and say, "which side?" and he will tilt his head and pull up one cheek--I'm supposed to turn the brush to face that side. He then rubs up against the brush and I am supposed to continue the swipe down the length of his body. If he wants it down his back, he bows his head. If he wants his chest and neck, he tosses his head like he he is saying, "'sup, girl?" He is VERY particular on that chin one, though; if I don't catch the nod, he will hook my arm and drag the brush toward him. If I still don't do it or set the brush down, he will use his paws to try to brush himself. Oh, and he loves having just the top of his head brushed over and over, he will flatten his ears back and tip his head up with his eyes closed like this is the height of all pleasure....the result being that he looks like a sea lion, I swear. Afterward, you HAVE to tell him how handsome he is at least four or five times or he will not leave you alone. We do this every day and because he is shedding on beast mode right now, he is itchy--I am noticing that our little Sir Schrödinger Beauty Session is getting earlier and earlier each day. (My best friend taught him this trick, but she lives in France and isn't here to brush him, so I think that was kinda dirty pool. Like buying someone else's kid a drum set.)

Having owned one that was a mix, (Dad was pure terror uh Yorky, Mom was Pomeranian and American Eskimo), our city has a Rat problem, only once did a rat come into the yard, needless to say I was impressed on how quick my Yorky dispatched it. Unfortunately we also had a rabbit come in the yard. Her Dad latched onto a raccoon, it screamed and tried to run up a tree, Dad was trying to do the head shake but coon was 3 times the weight, finally made it up a tree. Crazy dogs!

Oh, I never thought I would see this breed on your channel. They are only really known in netherlands and germany and even here they are rare. I've owned a Wolfsspitz (the german bred type of the Keeshond who have easier to groom fur and don't look so "stubby") for 14 years and he has been the best companion I could have wished for. He was hard to train because no treat or toy could ever bribe him, but he was the most loyal dog you could imagine and just loved to do the things to make me happy. Even when he went deaf on his older age I could always walk with him through the forest without a leash because he was always looking out for me. In 2 weeks I will pick up my then 10 weeks old puppy. A Wolfsspitz again, of course ♥

We sometimes call our Scottish Terriers the Terri-orists because they are always plotting some sort of attack, mischief, or how-to-get something. And gosh, once they’ve decided on something, there’s no stopping them! The official nickname for the breed is “The Diehard” and they pretty much live up to that. She would stand him up on a bench outside each morning and give him a thorough brush, reassuring him and calling him darling if he got whimpery. He was so good with me as a child and all the other grandkids, one time we all got very excited and got him excited too and got him doing laps around the house at the speed of light and jumping on the arm chairs. We got a good scolding for that but oh how I loved it as a mischievous child. I loved sinking my hands into his floofy fur every time i patted or hugged him. His big dark eyes were mesmerizing. You need to back up and realize you’re coming across as extremely rude and condescending and if she’s sponsoring their grooming, it may be for a very good reason. My parents got a Yorkie when I was in my teens. He was fiercely defensive of our family and would eviscerate empty UPS boxes to protect us from the air within them. He was also very easy to train. My favorite thing I trained him to do was square the property line when I let him out off lead. I did this at two separate houses, and I did it because I didn't like having to go out with him in foul weather when he had to do his business. Eventually he passed away. When my mother was moving out of the last house, she decided to sprinkle his ashes along the property line "because he liked to walk it so much," not realizing he did that because he'd been TRAINED to do it!

I have a Keeshond (you can see her in my picture!) and she's never been professionally groomed before. I've been DYING to see you groom one and it went exactly as I expected lol! Oh, and thank you SO MUCH for saying the name properly. 🩵🩵

Grew up with keeshonds in the family, absolutely adore them but way too much work for me to personally own them. So much time to brush them every week. My cousin had yarn and a sweater made out of keeshond fur to give to the owner of the keeshond, her mom. I've heard of rugs being made out of their yarn as well. They are incredibly happy, friendly dogs, and a joy to hug, with all that fluff.

I live in Yorkshire and there are loads of Yorkies here (obviously lol) and while they can be affectionate, they are also very ‘shouty’ and so make excellent guard dogs. When you live in the place where they get their name, they are everywhere 😅

I'm another British viewer and I used to go to Yorkshire quite a lot, Harrogate and Leeds, miss the place, such lovely people and yes I recall seeing quite a lot of Yorkshire Terriers there oddly enough! But not in Betty's 😂

I used to babysit for a family that always had kees around. They were the sweetest puppers. But I spent one Fourth of July weekend with one attached to me like Roo in Kanga's pouch! 😂 I was house/dog sitting, and in between neighborhood fireworks and summer thunder storms, neither of us got much sleep that weekend. ( This was long before the Thunder shirt. ) I remember sitting in the rocking chair @ 3: something AM, with the kees swaddled in a beach towel in my arms, singing lullabies while she moaned in terror, and occasionally dribbled a little pee on me. 🙄 I later had babies of my own, one of whom struggled with chronic ear infections. I'd think about that kees every time I pulled an all nighter with a screaming baby. 😆🥰. The baby is grown, and the kees is long gone. We all made it, though I'd had doubts at the time.

Love the Yorkie as well, the one we had fits the description perfectly 🤣she was a stubborn little S O B 🤣she hated being groomed and sulked when we got her home. She loved people and use to sit by the garden gate just so people could make a fuss of her 🤣Still miss her to this day.

My older brother had keeshond when we were kids. She was smaller but nice. The trick to keeping her clean was her sleeping next to the air intake for the heat pump. The light vacuum action did the trick. The air intake was right outside my brother's room.

That's quite the team! I like Terriers but they are a handful to say the least, very bossy but quite entertaining. Have never interacted with a Keeshond, more laid back than the Terrier, but that could describe all other dogs.

So happy to see a Keeshond!!! My girl is 16 months and she is a joy. She is easy going generally (except with cats outside!!) and very good for the groomer as I took her from a puppy. She is also an independent woman and not particularly affectionate.
