I will never understand how someone can look such a sweet dog in the face and do that to them. My dog was mistreated by being left in a crate for who knows how long and now he's completely ruined for crate training. I've tried but he will hurt himself trying to get out so he gets to stay in the office while I'm gone. He's perfectly okay in the room while I'm at work, he just can't go into crates anymore and I can't blame him.

Even with elderly animal hoarders (who I know sometimes don't understand what they're doing is severe neglect), there's gotta be a point before it gets to that level of stench and other conditions where they second-guess themselves...

@lightsoutisay They do. I adopted my dog from a couple that claimed they just didn't have time for him anymore and were looking to rehome him. I didn't realize how badly neglected he was for a week or so because I've never had a dog in such bad condition before. They were selective about rehoming him, too. They gave him to me rather than the 18 year old who would have stuck him in a muddy yard with her family's six other dogs. I had to deworm him, completely redo his vaccinations, figure out his allergies and get him to gain 25 pounds when he was clearly having digestive issues (had been fed food he was allergic to for potentially over a year). So they knew they were abusing him and seemed to care at least a little bit.

I did some work for a guy who has a dog that extremely matted and filthy. I believe she is an Irish Hound. I know the guy has loads of money, so it really surprised me to see his pet in such a terrible condition. I first did work for him 2 years ago, then returned a few weeks ago and she is still the same.

I was fascinated to see his shape once all the awful matting was gone - even so boney he is very elegant, reminded me a bit of saluki or other sight hound conformation, rather than poodle? He seems a real sweetheart, was super-glad to see a comment advising he has found a new home under the name 'Ruger'.

I wish I could do more. And I say this next bit because maybe it will inspire others to give. I gave 10 without comment and this 10 with. I wasnt going to comment but I thought maybe, just maybe it might help if I did. The reason I cannot give more is because I don't have it. Currently the house is only 52 degrees and will go down lower tonight. I have MS and even though my hubby works full time we cannot afford a big bill. Please, I DO NOT want sympathy and only say this to show it is possible to give even if you have nothing. And it gave me a reason to feel good about the day. I know so many like us can't give at this time but we decided we can't afford to buy xmas prezzies this year so in the absence of the joy of giving this was a joy to do. All love to all those who help the ones who don't know why they are hurting and why they are treated so badly. Again please no messages to me this is only about the animals and those angels who care for them. It was this post (Jack) and another pup post about Angel's emergency groom at the SPCA that inspired this tonight. Only love to all. ❤

When we got our 13 month old Bichon Frisé , she had spent most of her time in a cage as her owners worked and decided they shouldn’t have got her. We took her home and she was also heavily matted and urine stained too. Her first groom she had to be completely shaved like Jack. After her bathing she shone like a pearl and felt so silky . We promised her she wouldn’t have to go through anything like that again. A few months later and 2 or 3 grooms on, she became a Grande Princess Bichon. Thank you Vanessa and all caring groomers who help these wonderful babies become their true selves. Karen Uk❤❤

I have been dog mom to 4 poodles and agree 💯 that he's a standard poodle. He is such a sweetheart, and I hate that his humans failed him so completely. I pray the rest of his life he's treated like the angel he is and deserves to be. Goodest boy, Jack!

@@lavahotpocket3886 my guess as a vet that has worked in an area with many “breeders”, he looks like a puppy mill stud. My guess is to make doodles. He either escaped or he was not producing desireable progeny and was driven somewhere and dumped. Everyone make sure to do your research before adopting pure breed or designer dogs!

This poor boy hasn’t been allowed to “feel” anything in quite a long time. If she is right, and I think she is, about him being left in a crate, he probably doesn’t really know what it is to feel as he was shut away from all of that. To feel excitement for a new toy, joy of his family coming home at the end of the day, the happiness of running after a bird in the park, and, saddest of all, the love of pets and cuddles from his favorite person. Thank you for being one of the first to show this good boy what it means to be a good boy- kindness, compassion, and, most importantly, love.

Thank you for your compassionate work and support for rescued dogs. My experience with a rescue dog mirrors your story of Jack. I adopted a golden doodle who was found in dire conditions, left on a short rope without food or water, and infested with fleas. His transformation began when I took him in; he was matted, flea-ridden, and needed to be shaved. He had sores on his body, but after grooming and proper treatment, he embarked on a long but rewarding recovery journey. He eventually regained his beautiful, soft, and curly coat, revealing a gentle and kind personality-truly the best companion I’ve ever raised. He had a special bond with my family, particularly the children, and he got along wonderfully with my Australian Shepherd, quickly picking up her impressive tricks. Sadly, he passed away 2 years ago due to a cancerous tumor in his belly, and I miss him tremendously. His loving demeanor inspired me to rescue another puppy, this time from a tragic situation of being caged for his entire five months of life never groomed or trained. Medical issues with his eyes that had to be operated on immediately or go blind. The new addition to our family is thriving-a beautiful red Irish golden doodle weighing 54 lbs. He is exceptionally smart and loves being around children, happily running on the acres we provide. This dog made me want to cry. He really didn't ask to be abandoned poor boy. Humans can be so cruel. Thank you for being so kind and not wearing gloves. I know I couldn't do what you do for every animal that comes to you and the animals know you are an angel in disguise.
