I am not a follower of your faith but you and your community have taught me in these vlogs to find joy in the small things and to live with intention. (Also, i REALLY need to step my cleaning game up...) I think the way y'all live is what we're all really searching for. A sense of belonging and acceptance and community. You've said time and again it's not perfect, but perfection provides no room for improvement. I just found your channel and have spent the last 2 weeks watching all of your vlogs. Thank you to you and everyone willing to share. I also appreciate those Not willing to share. That is how they feel and our emotions are the only thing we'll ever truly own in this world. So i say to them, thank you for the contrast. Hope you had a wonderful birthday!

Good evening, Giselle. You certainly did a lovely vlog of Asian cuisine Hutterian Style. I quite like that canopy over your porch and I would daresay that Kona appreciates the added shade as well. It has been a hot summer! Thank you again for the lovely music, encouragement and the sharing of recipes. Hopefully you are allowed to do an audio-only vlog of church with the sermons in the future. You could simply use a visual of the river and trees as the video part but have the church sermon dubbed in; that way no one is filmed who does not want to be filmed? It's just and idea. Prayers and hugs to you and the colony.

My fave potatoes are garlic parmesan roasted potatoes. The college I went to used to do them for banquets, if we were lucky they let the housekeepers (what I did to help pay for school) have the leftover potatoes. They were SO good!! The parmesan gets all crunchy and brown. Yum! I'm getting hungry just thinking about them (it's also supper time lol).

Q: For the single women, men, widows, do they live alone or is there a sharing a house arrangement? Also noted you have a tattoo on the inner aspect of your left wrist I believe .. was that obtained during your colony breaks x 2? (PS If I am getting too snoopy, you know not to answer :)). Thanks again for a fun and interesting post ... Have a Great Sunday!❣

Yes, it is a tattoo she got when she was living off the colony. I too have been curious about the living arrangements of the older singles/widows. And what happens if a person with disabilities (who can’t live on their own) out lives their relatives as well.

Throughly enjoyed that one Giselle I enjoyed every minute of off it. I had a quick look through my books but I can't like the author your reading. I love my books after we moved my son counted them he gave up after a thousand. But I've been reading books since I was six and I keep them so that is why I have got so much, have you read the hutterite diaries I bought it a few years ago it is really good but I lost it but when we were moving I found it in the garage. Its got a bit tatty thanks to someone but if you want it I will send you it, that's what got me interested in the hutterites, because I read a bad one, then this one what a difference it's more like your views of your family. Anyway take care Jean. Ps good luck with you're new recipes.

I know you've mentioned that you have a 4 week work rotation. Week 1 being your bake week, and week 2 being your cook week, what is the routine for weeks 3 & 4? You've mentioned washing dishes after meals, is that part of the weekly rotation on week 3 or 4? And what is the routine for dishes? Do people just leave them on the table? Do they clear their own dishes, scraping/emptying them, and sorting into trays for the industrial dishwasher? For things like napkins, do you use disposable paper ones, or cloth ones that can be washed and reused? (Washing napkins, I imagine, would be fairly easy, with your industrial washers and clothes driers.) Also, how is food served in the main dining room? Buffet style with everyone helping themselves? Serving dishes on each table, to pass around? Your cook week and bake week videos general stop short of showing the final presentation of food to the colony, it would be interesting to see it all pulled together and ready to start a meal.

I'm curious how much food you end up throwing away? Are people offered the leftovers that aren't going to be served again to take home? In our small household we rarely throw anything out but I can easily know how much each of us will eat and plan accordingly. It must be difficult with so many variables.
