Hi ArcGIS and ArcMap are same. ArcGIS is the package which contains ArcMap, Arc Scene, Arc Globe and Arc Catalog. ArcMap is used for mapping and GIS related use, Arc Scene for 3D Visualization, Arc Catalog is for data base management.
