You could get a lot more performance from that thing with a bigger gear spread (i.e put a larger gear on the wheel). From motor to wheel it looks like the gearing is basically 1:1 so you're not benefitting from any torque multiplication.

I wish that you would have put the motor on the other side or on the front fork. Was it a 21 speed? Try a single speed rear wheel on the front fork and pedal home when you run out of juice. Or go bicycling really far and zoom home with 🔋 power. What do you think 🤔 😏?Very impressive!!!!

The gear system is used both to develop high speed and also to have a lot of effortless traction for steep climbs or headwinds, remove the gears to install an electric motor (which as far as you have shown does not develop great speed) and more if necessary. invest a good amount of money to install that system... I think it is not a good idea

Nice job, but it is better to add something so that electricity is cut off from the engine when you press the brakes in order to not create resistance to rotation of the engine if you press the brakes while the engine is spinning because that may damage the engine

Controller will limit the current going to the motor, should prevent it getting damaged. Simple ebike brake lever with a switch in it can be used with that controller to cut off the power when braking.

I think I'm liking this solution. The front hub motor kits are quite popular, but all of them need huge (and expensive!) batteries. I'd much prefer to have small batteries that you can switch out, and then charge by solar. And if it's a DIY kit maybe you could hook up the motor current cables to a set of small solar panels to save on the battery a bit. Maybe even charge from the sun while not using it. That would certainly be a neat addition, as even if it's slow to charge, it's still something. And may even be all some people need.
@themastereal8345 Жыл бұрын
those motors draw so much power, even a 100w solar panel couldn't properly counteract how much power you use (nevermind how huge it would be) so just stick with charging the batteries by using the motor as the main generator
@2DReanimation Жыл бұрын
@@themastereal8345 It depends on how much you use it. Like if you have a 15 min journey to work, then charging in the sun for 8 hours, and just 15 minutes back, that'd surely work with a smaller panel. But then again, you may just "borrow" some electricity at work ^^
@themastereal8345 Жыл бұрын
@@2DReanimation Yeah maybe if your battery pack is small anyways then you can charge it up quicker but I still think your solar panel would be huge to get a sufficient charge
