Nice job! I am starting to worry about some of these high energy (off grid options) I left DC ammeter logging on the battery tails of a job last week and it peaked at 89amps, so the 16mm supplied tails must have been getting warm off peak.

Great system my a i ask some questions. How much was this install. How many years will the install pay for its self. What is the warranty on all major components. How long will this home run in a 24 hour period if the grid was lost and using home as normal. Ie elecyric shower, heat pump and general normal home running. Look forward to reply

Costs vary depending on particular roof and cable runs but solar combined with AIO you are looking around 14-16k mark on a 10-12 panel system as a very rough guide. This install will be paid back in approx 7 years but again lots of variables based on future energy costs and increased consumption if an EV is added for example. Again the backup power is entirely dependent on the energy consumption of the particular property. You have 13.5 units of energy in the aio alongside any PV that is generated during a power cut so impossible to predict. You would have to be pretty silly to run the electric shower knowing you are trying to preserve battery power. But in theory it would run one continuously for 2 hours. It’s a powerful system that is for sure and one I have in my own home.

Great overview as always Mark. Just a question, i believe Givenergy say that you can have more than 1 aio on a system. Have you ever installed more than one on a single install?

I've just asked GivEnergy the same question - they replied; "We are currently in testing to make sure that 2 AIOs can work in parallel, unfortunately we have not been given a timeframe as to when this will be available. But i have heard that we will hear back soon from our higher ups." - Matt Butler at GivEnergy

Hey me again mate! Will the AIO charge from the solar when the power is down? So SOC is 50%, house load is 1kw and solar is 3kw. Will the 2kw go to storage and the other 1kw go to the house?

Yes it will. One of the few systems to sustain the solar while off grid.

Hi Mark. Have you ever moved one of these batteries between houses before? I'm thinking of getting one but intend to move house well before it would have paid for itself so just wondered if you think moving it to a new property would be an option?

Don’t see why not. Obvs labour costs in doing so but wouldn’t be an issue. Perhaps better value to factor into the sale price of the house. It should add value and use that to purchase again at the new place. Either or is doable from an install level though.

Varies on house and consumption for both tbh. Along with energy tariffs etc. With energy tariffs the way they are imho it’s difficult to make reliable long term predictions anyway. However most seem to get paybacks in 6-9 years or so.

Hi Mark. You have installed a few of these AIO system now so could you shed some light on how the DNO export limit works when you also have a string inverter. If your DNO export limit was 6kw, do you set the AIO to 6KW and the string inverter also to 6KW, and then the gateway measures the export combined and throttles back the battery export if solar & battery export would exceed the 6kW limit?

You need to have g100 g99 compliant equipment and then set the export limit in the products. So in the AIO and inverter. If your generation is under the DNO limit you can just set the export limit on the aio and it will keep the sum total under the DNO limit.

How are you finding testing the AIO and GW? Voltage across neutral to earth in island mode? What other tests you doing?

Absolutely fine. Was an issue with Earth - neutral bond relay but all golden.

Just wondering whether there are any pitfalls to installing the AIO outside (apart from the weather). Don't have the luxury of somewhere to install it inside (house is small plus no garage or outbuilding) nor do I want it in the loft given the current guidance (yes, I know it's not a regulation yet!). The main wall outside where the distribution board is situated under the stairs is the obvious candidate for locating the AIO but unfortunately it's south facing which potentially leaves me with a problem with overheating in the same way as the loft. Not sure what else I can do 🤷🏼‍♂️
