I really like the guy asking questions. Refreshing to see someone respectful and humble in their questions and doubts. Seems like a really cool dude :)

I actually liked his questioning as well … and also can see why he asked this question? As he was speaking I was hoping he said / asked what he was asking because I have the same question and i understand why he asked that. So basically I knew exactly where he was coming from with that question

I saw Cliffe over 30 years ago at a College Briefing in Southern California. I’m not sure I was yet a Christian but I was at least seeking God. Listening to him and his intellectual approach to the gospels gave me freedom to analyze the evidence without feeling that I was putting logic aside. Then we played basketball on Saturday and I saw that he was a normal dude too. Very important time in my life. Thanks Cliffe!

thank you for going to these campuses and talking with young people. I wish I would have been challenged in this way when I was going to college. I watch these videos hoping to see a young person do a 180 and profess that Christ is who He says He is. It is really hard for them, and me, to do that in such a social setting because of the perceived social ramifications; but this is exactly what Christ calls us to do and even goes so far as to warn us that the world as it is will not accept Him. Like in the gospel of John, he says that He came to that which was made through Him, yet the world did not know him. I am grateful that God came to Earth through Jesus so that we may come to know Him and have life through Him. It is not the healthy who need a doctor, it is the sick. That sickness is sin. I hope that God continues to refresh our minds with His wisdom. Thanks, Cliffe

I have been watching these videos for the past 3 days. The comments are hilarious in the sense that skeptics repeat what the students are saying. They're not working out the logic of their philosophy. And they criticize Cliffe for using the same arguments over and over? That ends up not a criticism of Cliffe as much as it is a critique on the condition of society that is living godless and relativistic. The videos are very similar to Todd Friel's series done on the UGA and Georgia State campus. Cliffe in contrast perhaps presents himself as more intellectual quoting more of the existential writers and other philosophers. However, i think Todd Friel does a better job of getting to the Gospel with each encounter. Cliffe shows how each person is applying/living a relativistic subjective moral world view. However, each person also seems to believe they are sinless. The Living Waters videos show them always making a point of getting to the Law and the Gospel. Cliffe points out even a moral relativist can know in their conscience that lying, murder, rape, and stealing is wrong. But he never brings them to the point of them admitting their guilt. So they leave not knowing their need for a savior. They are just given a challenge to read the gospels and study more. College students already have more reading and studying to do in a day than most people will do in a month. So there better be more of a sense of urgency put on them to look into the claims of CHRIST or they will forget about it as fast as they get to the next class or throw a frisbee. Each video, Cliffe does tell the Gospel. However, I am not always seeing that is presented to the students in such a way so they know they are guilty before GOD and JESUS CHRIST died for them. In the end I am thankful for what each ministry is doing. I pray for their continued outreach and how the HOLY SPIRIT can move through them. I appreciate the resources.

Just as it is today, God wanted relationship with mankind all through history. We don't only have the book. We have God with us. Right from the beginning God walked with man. But as man walks more and more from God, he lives less and less like God. In the beginning things needn't have been written because they knew God. And everybody who truly seeks God will understand the laws because they're written on our hearts, and now we can even have communion with God in the Holy Spirit through Jesus. Jesus brought us back to relationship with God, by being the constant lamb. [2Chr 16:9] For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him. In this you have done foolishly; therefore from now on you shall have wars. [1Sam 13:14] the Lord has sought out a man after his own heart and appointed him ruler of his people. [Acts 13:22] He raised up David to be their king, concerning whom He also testified and said, 'I HAVE FOUND DAVID the son of Jesse, A MAN AFTER MY HEART, who will do all My will.' As man's mindset and attitude strayed more from God, so their hearts strayed more from God. Sin is just that - when our own ways become our god. The laws were given (as is explained in the book of Romans - really good read!!) to reveal the sin - to show how from our hearts had come from God that our actions looked nothing like His heart. People then tried to get by by just following the laws ; ticking the boxes, and when they failed, going for the blood sacrifice of the lamb. When Jesus came he revealed the falsehood of this lifestyle in the Pharisees etc. who were the "upright" people of the law, but had dark and hard hearts. Jesus said, "Love the Lord your God completely and love everyone else" is most important, and that ALL THE LAWS AND PROPHETS fall on this. The essence of sin is a heart problem. We love ourselves more than God and the result of it is seen in the world today - and in people's dalily emotional and mental suffering (which is actually not how a life laid down in God lives). Unfortunately many Christians still live by the law alone and have not grasped the concepts that Jesus and the apostles lived - the fact that we are made righteous by the blood, can live in constant relationship with God and are transformed constantly by the renewing of our minds until we are perfected in our Faith. We will fulfill the law by walking with Him. ("If you love me you will keep my commandments"). But God knew all of this all along. We are free to choose Him or ourselves. In the world we will have trouble, but He has overcome the World (He was there in the beginning afterall and has provided a way for us to be reconciled back to our original value). So let's be in Him! Let's continue to pursue Him. I myself, having been born into a Christian family, having finally actually decided to understand God and pursue Him at 16 of my own accord, having tried and tried to follow the "Christian way" and being led astray on many occasions, have now (since this year) finally understood what it means to be born again. It means to put off the old - to die. To give your life to God. To seek more and more relationship with Him, to really believe what the bible says and live according to it. To be made righteous by Faith. It has always been about Knowing God, and being justified by Faith (like Abraham was, and like we are in Christ). We are made sons and daughters of God. Jesus made us His friends. The only thing that determines our value is God - we are not offendable, not hurtable, cannot fear, and we are full of Love (1 Cor 13 explains this love). Because we are God's. There is no longer an up-down emotional struggle. There is just joy in God. He's our Father!! and He loves us so much!!!

Hello Cliffe, You are still working on perfection but at the same time, you are born again? Right?
@kaylum-oe7qu11 ай бұрын
Not necessarily working on perfection, bc it is impossible to become that, if we could then Jesus resurrection was not needed. It's more about understanding that we can never obtain that perfection, we can definitely get better, but we need a humbling stance to understand that we can't be perfect so we can respect Christ, and look to him with appreciation and greatfullness , bc of what he did for us. Cliffe is born again bc he doesn't chase having faith in himself being able to achieve perfection, but put all of his faith into Christ and what Jesus has done, and adhering to Jesus commands , allowing Jesus to lead him in his walk in life, and apart of that walk is that we all stumble here and there, reminding us of our imperfections. Where the journey of change starts is when we fall in love with Christ, the true God in human form. True Love, real love, that is of God, it's not a feeling, love simply isn't that. But rather Love is a decision, a decision to work towards the well being of Another, Love is sacrifice. We pursue to have a relationship with Jesus Christ, a true loving relationship,he is with us.

When Cliffe talks about the whole Adam and Eve scenario, it seems to me fraught with inconsistencies, ultimately God knew they would disobey him, even given that they had freewill, he *knew* the outcome. At the end of Genesis chapter 3 God puts a flaming sword and an angel to guard the Garden of Eden to prevent Adam and Eve from returning. Wouldn't it have made more sense to put the flaming sword and angel around the tree of knowledge beforehand?, it's like leaving the keys to your car in the ignition and leaving the door open with a man ( the serpent) saying, "please help yourself to this wonderful car and drive it away". Ultimately Adam and Eve were not at fault.. if God didn't know what they would do, he's not all knowing. Did God explain to them about the dangers of being deceived?, not that I'm aware. He then places a subtle deceiver in their midst. A recipe for disaster it would seem to me.

***** Hi Maz, hmmm, I'd say I was more of a sceptic than a cynic. Particularly when it comes to the origins of the planet, science has a much more plausible answer to life on earth. The "Adam &Eve" story is badly flawed as I see it. Maybe you can answer my question as to whether God knew the outcome of giving Adam and Eve free will? Or do you have any thoughts on this question? I think it's quite an interesting point.
@bonnie43uk9 жыл бұрын

***** Hi Maz, yes, I recall we've had some previous discussions, I could be wrong Maz, but something tells me all the young students who converse with Cliffe aren't necessarily convinced with his answers either. It would be interesting to know how many of them turn up at his church as converted born again Christians. I enjoy Cliffe's interaction with the students even though I'm not swayed by his arguments. If you knew me personally you certainly wouldn't describe me as a cynic :-)

Worship means the feelings and or admiration for a deity. Cliffe we all don't do this and stop changing the definition of words to fit your narrative. What a person is living for can change minute to minute. Living for a 2000yr old deity in a book full of copies, I believe would be a waste of a good life. But you do you.
