And actually there are very good reasons for me not constantly eating. All powerful God limiting His power does not make Him irrational. In fact there are good reasons for why He does it.

there isn't a contradiction with the notion that God is both omnipotent and self-limiting. If God limits himself he can un-limit himself again. Either way he is still omnipotent. Power is about potential and ability to do something

Omnipotent but also with a free will. God's free willed choice to limiting power is out of respect for our choices to do what we wish. Its not love if its forceful. He gives us the choice to follow his path or our own
@kingdavid81787 ай бұрын
I think people are just confusing words, because by saying limiting the person is thinking this means God CAN'T do something that he other wise logically should be able to do. Maybe I am wording this wrong but my example is I can limit my ability to punch you in the mouth by simply not doing it, but technically I always had the ability to do it if I wanted, I simply choose not too thus you can say I limited myself in that sense even though technically I am not limited by that lol. Kind of confusing sounding but I think when he says the word "limited" people are getting confused on if he is saying God couldn't do such a thing or if that means God is just holding back or choosing not to do a certain thing. Kind of depends what the topic is and what you're talking about. I am limited to jumping only so high, but that is NOT due to my choice I am limited to punching someone in the mouth if choose to limit myself, however that is MY choice in this situation Depends how you use the word honestly On one hand I am limited in one sense but in another sense I am not limited.

Of course you are correct. But here, Cliffe is talking about evidence for following Jesus vs the myriad of other "options" seemingly available to these students. He is challenging them to think through why they believe that their own enjoyment is what they should live for. Or why Buddha's teachings are worth living for. Etc. He's not saying all you need is evidence or evidence is the only way. He's talking to individual students who need their worldviews to be challenged.

The student at about 07:35 asks a valid question regarding God's justice system of punishing finite crimes with infinite punishment, I found Cliffe's response a little underwhelming. I cannot think of any crime here on planet earth that any judge in the world would think is punishable by a sentence that would go on ad infinitum. To me, that seem's inhuman. No part of me could ever justify a punishment that literally had no end. When you truly attempt to grasp the immensity of 'infinity' it's impossible for our brains to fully comprehend it I think.

Hi Elijah, I'm not sure what you mean. If you mean would I prefer a death sentence ( in that when someone is dead, it means they no longer exist in any realm) as opposed to going to a place whereby they will be punished for all of eternity after physical death, absolutely yes.
@jignaio57628 жыл бұрын
bonnie43uk I think his point is that death penalty is one you cannot undo (unless you were resurrected). Honestly, I think Hell is not forever based on the Bible: (1) Sodom and Gomorrah burned down with eternal fire (Jude 1:7) yet they aren't burning right now; (2) Mal. 4:1 talks about the destruction of evil without leaving neither the root nor the branches. But aren't souls immortal and immaterial? (3) God is the only immortal being there is (1 Tim. 6:16). (4) Jesus taught there would be a resurrection of condemnation (Mat. 5:29). But don't you go to Heaven or Hell when you die? (5) Read Ecl. 9:3-6.
@bonnie43uk8 жыл бұрын
José Fabres Hi Jose, thanks for that, the thing is, the New Testament is full of quotes of everlasting damnation and fire. Jesus himself even says so, ... so are you questioning the words of Jesus himself?. With the bible it's the easiest thing in the world to pick a quote which can be read in a different context by whosoever reads it. I've no doubt if you and I picked a page at random from the bible and read it, we would both take different things from it and see it in a different context. I can envisage a God who wouldn't need a book to tell us what he required of us, his word would be beyond anything written down in human form. The vast majority of people living hundreds of years ago were illiterate and poor and had to rely on what a tiny minority told them about the bible, that is no way for an all knowing God to spread his message. If there is some form of punishment waiting for people who disbelieve the bible, shouldn't it be crystal clear what that actual punishment is, whether it be as Jesus said 'everlasting or eternal' or what many pastors say nowadays 'a separation from God' I'd happily take a separation from God, that sounds fine with me, but I'm not too keen on the everlasting punishment, that does not sound good at all.
@bond31613 жыл бұрын
Yes. My biggest concern right now is why does god punish sinner eternally? Why not let them die and be over with? Or punish them according to their deeds. Why does everyone despite different levels of evil all get ETERNAL punishment? Or maybe not punishment, but at least it us without God. And it is still Infinite. Isn't that worse than creating a program but deleting it once it has a glitch?

I think this gentleman makes sense with many things that he says. However, I don't think he or anyone else should venture to say what The Almighty cannot do. He created all things, and He is omnipotent in every way! To call people a "liar" because they maintain the full omnipotence of God, (including making a square circle) is a mistake. Jesus said, "With men it is impossible; but with God all things are possible." (Matthew 19:26). I also don't think God limits His power to give mankind free will. In fact, I think it shows even more power to give His creation the ability to choose life or death.

And the bible was written in what I call "old English" so it was a huge barrier. But I've approached Jesus and God more to understand them than to critisize and misunderstand them. There are things that frustrate me about them, but I keep seeking the answer instead of giving up.

What could possibly “frustrate” you about God and Jesus?
@jamiesmith42932 жыл бұрын
@@PoweredbyJESUS7 Jesus keeps talking in riddles. The book of Revelation is super-confusing. I'm incapable of believing that God is love and he loves his chosen jews, but he also told them to perform male-genital-mutilation which I've researched and concluded is unnecessary, horrific, and resembles evil more than love. I've also asked him repeatedly to show me why he made me, but I get no answer, so I spend my life not knowing what to do. Atheists have memorized contradicting bible verses to throw at me and I get dragged into long debates that it would take a lifetime to understand and defend anything. The bible is just too long with too many riddles to solve in a lifetime. I know they're called parables, but they feel like riddles. I keep seeking answers but I feel like I get no where.
