2:50-2:53 Funny question, God already tried that. Remember the whole separating the Red Sea thing? What did that get God? Nothing! A whole lot of nothing. From his own “chosen people” no less! The fact is, if God showed himself to you, in the way that you describe, you’d reject him in a week again. This is why seeking God for yourself, is so important. Once you “get him,” you won’t lose him. Basically, you want the easy way and that’s not how life works.

God doesn't report to us. Even if Jesus appears now and does the miracles that you want to see, what guarantee is there that 5-10 -20 years from now, people won't be making the same demand. And they would surely be making that same demand another thousand years from now. So read the Bible and decide if you want to believe in him or not. He's not going to reappear just because YOU want him to. For me that's part of my definition of faith. I never saw Jesus walk this earth but I still believe in him.

At about 12:00 the young man makes a very credible point, talking about how 2,000 years ago a lot of information was passed on verbally, Jesus didn't write anything down, neither did his followers for at least 10-20 years after Jesus's death. When we use verbal communication, it can be extremely unreliable when it comes to passing on what another person said, We humans have a propensity to misunderstand, or mis-hear things, .. then within 3 or 4 retellings of an event or happening, the original message is nothing like the current message. As the guy said, when you play the game "telephone", by the time the story has reached the other end, it's completely distorted. I do not believe the gospels to be accurate accounts of history.
@rotty11009 жыл бұрын
+bonnie43uk But also you personally don't have proof that these stories didn't occur yourself. So why don't you accept it for what it is because you have no bases to disprove otherwise.
@bonnie43uk9 жыл бұрын
Tiger Snake Hi TIgerSnake, wouldn't you rather believe something because its true?. I was raised up to believe in all these biblical stories, I've also had doubts about whether they are true for most of my life. You are free to believe them if you wish, I'm not telling you to stop believing, I'm merely asking questions that I've struggled to comprehend over the years. Eg: why didn't Jesus himself write anything down himself if his message was crucial for mankind?
@rotty11009 жыл бұрын
+bonnie43uk Well I kinda think differently from you. I personally think because it has been 2,000 years from now throughout history almost every other religion e.g. Buddhism, Muslims, Jews etc, acknowledges that Jesus was a real person that existed up until today & not because of just blind belief. But in all honesty I can't tell you why Jesus didn't write down stuff for himself, 'maybe he wasn't too fond of writing' :(. But there are certain ethics & teachings that people can relate to and put into practice, that's when having experiential knowledge is vital in these types of accounts when it comes to testing your faith. Jesus never forced, coerced or pontificated his beliefs but more put into practice that people that witnessed his doings recorded it. It may not be accurate history but is far from being contradictory as well. Explaining certain accounts of 'what took place at what time' doesn't mean that the story has to be exactly the same but as long as it reaches the same conclusion because people have different ways of expressing their ideas.
@rotty11009 жыл бұрын
+bonnie43uk And to be honest there are lots of other reasons of why I think Jesus is a wise choice to follow him but I don't wanna bore you, neither do I wanna try to sound like I'm influencing you because it is such a long, complex & delicate topic that it's merely to cover every topic of this type of conversation. But good on you for reading the Bible, but you're not gonna find all the answers from bible but you also need experiential knowledge to combine with your wisdom of reading not only the Bible but the Koran, Torah, Gita, Buddhism etc. To reach a reasonable conclusion. I respect your opinion & reservations of not believing in things blindly but I do think that you can dig a lot deeper without being brainwashed or coerced by anybody to seek truly of what is good.
@bonnie43uk9 жыл бұрын
+Tiger Snake This may seem like a really stupid question to you, but what is stopping Jesus from coming down today and giving out his message to todays generation?, it seems over the course of 2,000 years, his message has become diluted and changed to suit whatever Christian denominations needs. If humanity was my creation, and i had the power to turn up in the flesh and explain to them precisely what I required of them, it would be in mine and their best interests to do so surely. He could be explicit on so many aspects of our lives so that it left nobody in any doubt whatsoever. What does Jesus gain by leaving billions of people following the wrong faith their entire lives?, wouldn't he want them to follow his path?, yet people who are born into different faiths will follow that faith from the cradle to the grave, Hindu's Muslims, Sikh's.. does Jesus not care about those people?
@roseforeuropa5 ай бұрын
Ok, let's say Jesus came down. Skeptic: Well, is he really the Son of God though? *Jesus performs miracles* Skeptic: Yes, maybe it's a fancy illusion *Jesus rises from the dead* Skeptic: Yes, maybe he wasn't really dead all along *Jesus ascends into heaven* Skeptic: Maybe I just didn't get much sleep last night Unless they decide to humble themselves, there is no hope.

I find that most of the people who ask the question "if God comes down and show his power, and I'll believe in him." Generally pose that question as a strawman from their presuppositions. Its a disingenuous question, as they mostly wouldn't believe even if God did show his power on command. It shows that they truly dont care about the possibility that God could do what they ask and just to throw gods restraint back in his face (so to speak).

Michael Steven Martin ... I believe in God, in Christ. I'm always searching for evidence and critically thinking everything. People say I over think things. However I accept there are questions that we don't have all the answers for. We will find out one day. For some it may be too late. In LIFE we don't have constant 'PROOF' of everything. For some things we only have 'EVIDENCE'. Then we can look at likelihood, reliability, repeatability and make a decision. That there is evidence for 99% of something, but no answer to the 1% surely doesn't disprove it. In science, there are experiments that give 98% or 100% (like Paternity tests) and there are some experiments that are 100% like gravity. But the paternity test is still correct despite it not being 100%. It's still accepted as evidence that "they ARE the father" .. As Mowry would put it.

God revealed himself in a profound way. He came to earth from his holy kingdom, and was subjected to constant persecution and rejection and betrayal. Then scourged and crucified for our transgressions. He only had to do that once, and it is sufficient.
