It’s been great. We also do cabbage hanging or a suet cake. We tried a flock block but they didn’t seem to care much for it. Super helpful to keep them engaged in a positive activity.

Yeah you could make a couple to keep their minds on the dispenser instead of pulling feathers. Mine seemed to like this more than a flock block. But there’s another option for you.

If you use a cheap craft wood burner tool it's quick with no sharp cut edges. Also great for making plant pots out of almost anything plastic.

The hens sure loved it when you filled it! One idea for an improvement: If the string/knot breaks, tie the string to an eye-bolt. The bolt can go inside the hole and you could put a nut and large washer. The washer will help distribute the weight on the lid better. Looks like your girls love this idea!!

Look at you working that drill. It is always amazing to me that one bird is so much smarter than the rest. I had one who would jump on the side of the cage when it saw me to let me know that they needed water or food. I think your chickens will like their new addition.

I’m going to try heating up the drill bit and melting holes in a plastic jar. This should leave no sharp edges to sand down.
