I think a lot of people think by playing bass trombone you can avoid high notes. They are definitely less frequent on bass but they exist.

Any tips on maintaining good tone between ranges? Especially the High A to pedal A in the end; I can't sound good on both, its one or the other :(

That is something that a lot of us (myself included struggle with). I work on playing full range arpeggios that start in the middle of the horn, go all the way up, then down to the bottom, and then back to the middle. That has helped me get some consistency.
