I feel he had a point on the clearance thing. I have this with my instructor as well. I have the feeling that a person sitting in a passenger seat cannot fully judge how the driver is seeing the situation and therefore think they might crash when they are fully aware of how much space they have etc. That said he could have been going slower, and if he has to allow more clearance to make the passenger (who will also be the examiner on the day of his test) feel more comfortable, then that is what he should do.

Honestly, with all due respect, I think Rumman could learn to humble himself a little. He was almost in denial about that clearance situation with the van. Aman is a driving instructor & knows her stuff. She's also seeing everything a learner is doing from her perspective & is trying to help people drive properly, so in my opinion maybe just take it on board & learn from it? 🤷🏽♀️ still a good drive but I'd prob save the 1 hand spins until passing. Again, no disrespect...there's nothing worse than thinking you can drive smooth then end up with more than 1 serious fault. Wish Rumman all the luck with his test 😊🙌🏽

I passed my test 23 years ago and still really enjoy watching your videos. It gives me so much satisfaction when your students pass. I think you’re a great instructor, good ones are hard to come by. For anyone learning, if you’re struggling keep at it, at some point it will just click and become like second nature, I promise.
@keith6400 Жыл бұрын
I think Rumman's biggest shortcoming is when we see just a part of a vehicle emerging from densely parked cars and we blunder on until a bad meeting situation occurs. If you only see part of a vehicle emerging the driver will not be able to see you so better plan is stop short and out the way. The other driver can then sort it out and you do not need to do a tricky manoeuvre.

Passed my test today with 2 minors. Im from Belgium but and I had the luck of having 2 examiners in the back, a main one and a trainee, + my instructor beside me. 3 middle aged adults in my vehicle for my test, pretty nerve wrecking, especially they were whispering to each other in the back, but they were good at putting my nerves at ease. I stood focused and finally got my license! Also on my first try. I always watch these british videos and I feel like the examiners are more strict here, I definitely can partially thank the fact I passed, to this channel and DGN.

I failed my second driving test (passed 3rd time) for EXACTLY that situation of clearance with a vehicle on the left. I always remember the examiner’s words: “you went through at quite some speed”. I was flabbergasted as I believed it was very slow like in this video, and a minor at worst, but it was indeed marked as ‘serious’. Rumman - Listen to Aman!

5:10 I didn't see much wrong here, sometimes I guess people are fully aware of what's around them, again, overly confident from Rumman, why check the mirror, ''I know there is no one close by '' is most likely what he's thinking, of course that doesn't cut it when doing a test, so a deserved serious fault, his positioning was wrong like you mentioned, following the white line to his left, solves the issue before it becomes one. Sometimes it feels like Rumman is driving like a seasoned pro, on the road for years, where he'll take the racing line, rather than the correct road position, that he'll squeeze through the tightest of gaps, as he knows he can, rather than holding back , showing more patience, and proceeding when it's safer, sometimes excessive confidence can be as detrimental as no experience. 🙏
@ironcxctus Жыл бұрын
Confidence and experience mean nothing to the cyclist or motorcycle that may have snuck up beside you just before carrying out a manoeuvre like that. Whether a learner or not and whether on a test or not doesn't make a difference - "'I know there is no one close by" doesn't cut it anywhere (not just when doing a test). Check your mirrors even when you think nobody is close by.

Hi Amen Happy New year and thank you for the content. Was this edited, as it seemed very short for mock test. The independent drives was only about 8 minutes? Do you normally leave it so close to the test for learners to practice the emergency stop? I hope you don't mind me mentioning as there were a few inconsistencies with the video. You mentioned his clutch before brake on the emergency stop, yet you don't mention all the other times he coasts? If in control, won't be a fault (not minor) on a test, but really isn't the standard we should be aiming for. Approaching the roundabout by where the motorbike was emerging, you say he did good mirror checks and signal timed, yet he signals just before checking his mirrors? (As he does every time when moving off from the left) Similar with his reverse park, you say it was good yet he spends most of his time looking into the left door mirror and not over the left shoulder for dangers? I would be interested to hear your feedback on these points? Thank you in advance.

@epsleon Жыл бұрын
The examiner isn't going to give you a tight space, you'll always have at least 2 car lengths. So any adjustment needed is through poor control or poor planning. Having to adjust means you've made a mistake. Small mistakes are marked as minor faults.
