he mentioned being competitive about passing with the least hours, however i hope he realises that its more important to be a safe driver than a unsafe competitive one and doesn't allow the competitiveness get the best of him as we seen his frustration take over at some points. irrespective of that, i hope he continues to take more lessons to be the great driver he is destined to become :)

6 hours of driving lessons is NOTHING, I personally passed with 40 hours and that's when it starts to be enough for an individual to drive safely, being used to hazards, reaction to them responsibly and calmly. We all know driving lessons can be expensive, but it's more important for everyone to drive properly all by themselves in a safe way. Better take the few extra hours just to be sure that you're gonna be fine all by yourself later on.

He seems a nice guy but has technical issues; you do not beckon pedestrians across the road in front of you. I think he needs to speed up and slow down more to deal with hazards like mini-roundabouts and keep track of where you are and what you are doing on larger roundabouts. Overtaking is problematic on test as you cannot exceed the speed limit. It is tempting on a dual-carriageway but a slow moving lorry is accelerating hard to maximum speed limit 0 - 60 mph in 30 seconds, they are sluggish but still trap you in a catch-22 situation.. You do not need to pass in fewer lessons than your sister, to be competitive just aim to be ultimately a far better quality safe driver.

Yeah he had a bit of a thing of approaching too fast to things or braking quite late so not leaving much of a distance e.g. at traffic lights or behind other cars for tyres and tarmac. It got better though as the test went on. The thing about the wider right turn to then go in the left lane onto the dual carriageway is an interesting point, and he may have had the same thought as me for a second that it may have been one of those where two lanes are able to turn right, and so he didn't want to cut anyone off. The mirror check on entering the road should've shown this though I guess
