So interesting to hear how GiveWell actually come up with their recommendations! Makes so much sense to use an evidence based approach to giving

This is very helpful. I have read the book by William Macaskill and although came away feeling inspired and feeling better able to understand the problems of effective giving and possible solutions the actual application is still difficult. I am from the UK and our charity sector has long been in desperate need of effective regulation. It is very difficult to find effective charities amongst the sheer volume claiming charitable status for whatever reason so much so I tend to regard charities in the same way as I view religious or political donations…I expect there to be a hidden agenda… I understand what he says about no providing something basically shallow like a league table but then it boils down to being able to trust his organisation…and thats where I find this type of video/podcast to be helpful. It puts a face to website. it has to be said i am a notorious bad judge of character but its something I am comfortable taking responsibility for.
