Hello @blackprowriter, Congratulations on your baby. I have a similar situation to yours though with some differences. I am an international student in Ontario and l gave birth to my daughter some months ago. In my case, l made use of the services of midwives who took the burden of the cost except the hospital fee/epidural. All other costs such as blood works, ultrasound, prenatal visits, delivery and postnatal checks were at zero cost. True to your words, you can’t overemphasize the importance of planning and a supportive system during this period. I registered my baby for daycare and joined the waitlist when l was 5 months pregnant and still in Nigeria. Currently, she attends daycare and this is also at zero cost to us because of the government subsidy. Like you advised, if one can wait they should kindly consider it as it is really a lot juggling studies with a newborn or in my case, three children including a newborn.

My husband and I are temporary residents (he works in Canada). We’re not on visit visas. If you’re thinking of starting a family in Canada, discuss with your partner and figure out your timeline.

Asaan international student, your child does not get childcare benefit until your 19th month of stay. Not same for PR and citizen

hello, thanks for watching. According to IRCC, you must be physically present in Canada as a permanent resident for 1,095 days within the five (5) years. So, this applies to mothers as well.

Sadly no, this is because it’s a graduate course with a duration of one year. Canada just announced that only masters and PHD students can invite their dependents

only Masters and PHD international students are allowed dependents. It is a new rule that was addressed this year. So, until you are done with your course and have applied for a PG work permit, then you can invite your family to apply for a dependent/spousal visa.
