Giving Day - the LINAC

As Chris O'Brien Lifehouse celebrates 10 years since our doors opened, we face a problem. One of our Linear Accelerators (LINAC) must be decommissioned. Like most machines that utilise radiation, they have a limited lifespan.
413 Australians are diagnosed with cancer every day, 50% will require radiation therapy by a LINAC.
LINACs are highly effective; they administer a large dose of radiation precisely to the cancerous tumour, sparing the surrounding healthy tissue.
