Usually the bad clients will start the conversation with a stern "how much for a detail!?"

More like “how much for just a car wash”? You arrive and the vehicle is completely trashed like it hasn’t been touched in a year. Lol.

@@Samuelfish2k 😂 yeah that’s usually the case with those customers… the ones that say it’s not that bad are the ones that are a disaster, then the ones that say its pretty dirty - you get there and it looks like it was just detailed in the last few weeks. 🙃

It was nice to see no hard sell and the fact you were honest with the customer about their needs, that's refreshing these days.

I never hard sell... just lay out the different options and let them take in the info and come to their own decision. I just try to treat people the way I like to be treated... I can't stand when people try to push me into something, it just makes you want to back away. I have a bunch more customer calls & interactions we just recorded over the last week...new videos coming soon ;)

When it comes to giving quotes, I don't. Instead I ask the prospect to meet up so that way I can look over their vehicle and go over options to meet their needs. That way you can tell instantly who's serious, and who's just price shopping. I'll give them teasers and a taste of the candy that they can expect by discussing what I could do. Also, when somebody calls, or approaches me doing a job, wanting a price, I always start with " I can promise you I'm not going to be the cheapest, but with my over 30 years experience, I can promise I'll be the best", That way I'll get a feel for the price choppers instantly versus the people who are serious about their detailing.

As an starting Detailer from Finland, i enjoy learning business and detailing methods from you videos. My big challenge from now is the upcoming winter. I cant detail customers cars in the cold anymore, so i go to customers place to swap the car and drive it to my garage. The thing is that i got a really good deal on this garage thats 30minute drive away from my service area. I have a other garage closer that you can rent when selecting what hours you need, but that garage is not well heated during winter. Professional view needed. Kiitos jos luit :)

It gets cold here in Las Vegas, but not too cold to work outside... if it's that cold there then a garage is probably the way to go, maybe pick up a space heater to warm it up a bit.

I built all of my packages with a base clean of what’s included and then allow customers to customize their add ons like shampooing or leather cleaning. Not a fan of packages that lock in services the customer doesn’t necessarily want or need.
@topstardetailing
@topstardetailing 2 ай бұрын
@@brandonbaker2281 basically what I did as well… my express package they can add individual services to it if necessary… like shampoo seats, or trim restoration, engine bay… etc and my executive includes almost everything. I can customize a clients package by adding or removing certain services too… keeps it simple.

Another awesome video! How do you go about shopping centers, gym parking lots, etc if security says its private property? Also when you first started and were trying to get business in these places do you park your detail rig and chill in your car/run errands or do you open the setup and hangout around it? Thanks Jeff.
@topstardetailing
@topstardetailing 2 ай бұрын
@@StevenAfLv find the ones that don’t have security… even some of the ones that do have security are ok with you being there as long as you’re set up on the outskirts of the parking lot not where everyone else parks… you want to be out of the way. I used to just wash my own detailing rig car & trailer and people would come up and start asking for quotes… the key is for them to see you working whether it’s on an actual customers vehicle or your own the activity will naturally attract them to come over and approach you. Also be approachable… don’t have headphones in, be first to say hey how’s it going? How’s your day to people… engage with as many people as possible. Have something you can hand out, either business cards or flyers… flyers are less expensive to print. I drag my trailer around EVERYWHERE with me… EVERYWHERE!!!! ;)

Always fun to see how other detailers approach the sales aspect. I notice you don’t give starting pricing for interiors, do you set expectations based on their package and tell em they’ll have to pay $xx based on the condition.
@topstardetailing
@topstardetailing 2 ай бұрын
Thanks Arthur...I like sharing my experience on that side of the business rather than just talking about chemicals and how to clean cars all the time. My prices that I quote on the phone are the same exact prices that are on my website which are based on the vehicle type / size of the vehicle. Those are my starting prices and on my website it says "pricing may be subject to change based on the vehicles condition upon inspection at arrival" I love having my pricing on the website because it's all completely transparent so there is never an issue with people feeling like they are being taking advantage of or anything... the price is the price and it's the same for everyone with the same size vehicle... some will be a little more work than others and some will be fairly clean and easy - they balance each other out. I only charge extra if it's really really bad or there is substantial pet hair.
