I don't remember receiving any mail on it. The information is sent from superintendent to the place you want to book your registry.

Notice first. Some registrars won't accept a booking if your notice hasn't been done/booked.

Depending on your council... like my council was the same! Hardly any appts. But I was able to scroll through their calendar to check the next avail date. If that isn't an option for your council, I would check the website few times a month.
