I own a 2021 HD TriGlide and love it. Installed a Stage II on the 114 and it woke the motor up. I can easily keep up with the two wheel bikes while riding in comfort. There so many benefits to a Trike such as comfort, stability, storage capacity, and high visibility to other drivers on the road. I can go on with all the benefits but I’ll let other riders try one out before judging. Again, I love my TriGlide.

I know this is an older video, but still relevant. Just traded in my '18 Road Glide Ultra with Stage 2 (RS 468, S&S camchest, ported and flowed, Power Vision and Wideband O2s, headers and Tabs). Picked up a bone stock 2023 Tri Glide Ultra. Mainly for wife's comfort on the long trips. Although tame by anyones standard, the 114 is no slouch either. I've only put on a Bassani exhaust (really just for the sound!) And I don't have problems keeping up with the boys. I ride in the back because I have to ride in the center of the lane. I do take curves and twisties slower. May not be for everyone, but I've got 54+ years on two wheels and I can honestly say three wheels are fun as hell! I will say make sure you stay at or under the S&S 475 lift on a motor without heavier valve springs. I like the RS468 for that reason. Great low end torque as well.

I did a 131 build on my 2020 triglide. It’s got a woods 77x cam in it with upgraded intake, roller rockers and cam plate and oil pump ,extreme CNC ported screaming eagle heads, bigger injectors and I beefed up the clutch and used a man o war compensator. I used Carrillo 11.5 pistons in it with a fuel Moto tune. It hauls ass now and I have to be careful when turning and hitting the throttle because it walks the front wheel. I don’t beat on it so hopefully I won’t have any problems with the transmission. I also replaced every nut and bolt on the engine with ARP 12 points.I’m glad I did it.

The Tri-Glide Ultra (2021) that I have is the hardest vehicle in my experience to learn how to ride. That being said now I love it. It took me a long time to figure out it was not like a 2-wheeler and it was not like a car, but somewhere in between. (It doesn't quack like a duck) You can't lean it into the curves and you can't make tight curves quickly, you MUST slow down, or you will roll it over. Not good for you or the bike :) My advice is take your time, learn the machine, and drive safe. I think someone without much 2-wheeler experience will find this easier to ride than someone who, like me, has certain expectations from 50 years+ of riding 2-wheelers. You have to unlearn that and concentrate on learning all over again. If you do that you will not be sorry you bought one. They are a blast.

( removed the cat, cobra neighbour haters, AN big sucker, and a VH3 tuner) really woke it up, but it really needs more. Ive never heard of a Woods TW7H but ill be looking into that this winter for it as the numbers you showed on screen are impressive to say the least, and exactly what this 1300 pound pig needs to make her fly. ride safe and look forward to the next one. Bikes under warranty so can't pull cat off .
@GixxerFoo6 ай бұрын
Well under warranty you should be able to install a new header as long as you tune it with a Screamin Eagle tuner. That will help but you have to buy that tuner and it doesn't allow for AFR changes, which is what you want to do to further cool the bike off and make it run 100x better. Since you're under warranty and if you don't mind possibly buying another tuner later I would get an aftermarket performance header and mufflers, tune it with the SE tuner and purchase a Power Vision later when the warranty is up to tune it.
@clydedettor70805 ай бұрын
Andrea, I live in SoCal so I understand the heat and traffic issues as I have a 2022 CVO Tri Glide 117. DK Customs has videos on how to cool your bike. I bought their tank lift, air flow deflectors and the thing I think reduces the heat most is their floorboard extensions. They move your leg away from the pipes allowing more air flow between them. You can still feel some heat when stopped or going real slow but the difference is night and day. I installed everything with the help of my 8-year-old great grandson. None of these voids any warranty. Hope this helps.

I have a 2019 Tri Glide Ultra and I agree, it was seriously underpowered, even with a 114 engine. I put Tab 4.5 w/Zombie baffles, an S&S Intake manifold, a better air intake, and Jims USA 818 cams and had it dyno tunes. Now she pushes 103HP (at 5000 RPM) and 130TQ (at 3570 RPM). I can get the front wheel off the ground if I want, and keep up with my 2-wheel club brothers, even on a 1200+ pound trike. I had to go to 3-wheels after 40 years on 2-wheels and a knee replacement. While the Tri Glide Ultra is great, if you mostly ride solo, the new Road Glide 3 is AWESOME. I just wish they had that out when I went to a trike and put a bunch of money into my Ultra. Also, going from 2-wheels to 3-wheels takes a bit of time getting used to. I was making 90 degree turns very slowly in the beginning ... you feel like the bike would tip over, but it doesn't. After a couple months, and adding a Legend Lift Kit, I can take turns faster than I can on a 2-wheeler. Also, trikes are ALL upper body strength for turning, no leaning, so there is that adjustment.

If you are thinking of getting one because it's just too difficult to ride on 2's, then a Harley 3 wheeler is really your only option out there. Just a couple of points to add, they handle totally different from anything else. They can be a pain to get on and off if you have mobility issues, I had to install a "mid-step" which will solve that issue. And lastly, if you install a trailer hitch on it and take it in for warranty work, that will void your warranty, period. They handle pretty well in the snow, I don't recommend it, but it is a blast. I have a 2018 tri glide ultra. Suffered a major foot injury years ago and 3 wheels was my option. The M8 107 has enough power that I wheelie the trike without trying on a stock engine.

I recently bought a new ‘23 Tri Glide Ultra with the M8-114 and waiting now for Spring weather in the northeast. I liked your video but hope someone will share experiences in handling the Trike. I’ve seen some negative stuff on KZbin about under steering and maybe breaking. The roads around us here are typically twisters and some hills. What are some of the caveats I should be aware of to safely drive this new beauty. Thanks anyone.

The problem with trikes is most motorcycle shops aren't set up for working on them and automotive tires. Most automotive shops won't touch anything not 4 wheeled. You will have to be patient and resourceful to pull off a trike!

I own a 2019 triglide. I ride 95% with my wife. I’m a big guy and I can ride as far and long as we want. Plenty of power. I can pass or whatever and keep up just fine. And I get great gas mileage, approximately 43 mpg. Some day I want to get rid of the foot cooker.

Prefer a good sidecar outfit over any trike… Don’t know why, but I never got warm with the look and how they behave on the road.

Hello, I just traded in my 2020 Road Glide with a stage 2(RS 468 CAM Thank you for your wonderful advice) I am now the proud owner of a RG 3. I feel I made a good choice. I would like to do a stage two on the Trike, But aren't most Dyno's set up for two wheeled motorcycles? Is it possible to get a dyno tune on a trike?

I’m at that age/condition for a trike. But underpowered is exactly the word. Always said if a go trike it’ll be a Gold Wing. Am giving thought to a side car.??? They don’t lose the Cool factor. 😎

I did the DNA Specialty trike conversion kit to a Sportster 48 Special. It was a fantastic bolt on kit, The company was fantastic to deal with. It turn out Great but I could never get used to riding it. It was like the illegitimate child of a motorcycle and a British sports car. LoL But a fun build.

I've not been on a trike since 1967, when I would ride with my God Uncle "Jungle Jim" MAA of the HA in San Diego, CA. down to Tijuana, Mexico, or to the blowouts in the mountains near Sacramento, Redding, and Red Bluff. I was only 11 & 12. My point is that a trike has less stability on the turns compared with a Can-am reverse trike.

I am a proud owner of a 2019 Freewheeler Trike with a 114 Stage 2 conversion that gets up and makes a believer out of some surprised two wheeler riders. Everything from being my daily driver, to carving some canyons, this trike keeps me smiling like the Cheshire Cat! And I have future plans, some already in motion, for further mods that will blow some minds. For instance, currently I'm doing a RG3 total factory color matched fairing addition, then some incredible suspension mods and finally a crate engine / transmission, drivetrain upgrades that could possibly cause heading twisting neck injuries. Thank you for the video and info, Gixxer. Thumbs up to your channel!

Out in Arizona also. Rarely saw trikes in California, but in the last 5 years tons of trikes. I think it is because their are less younger people interested in riding and the riding generation, if you will, are social security age. At least that is my hypotheses.
@hhplymouth9473 Жыл бұрын
I have thought about a trike in the future. They are expensive. I also worry that it would suck the fun out of riding. I am now trying to sell my VTX1800R. I got a Heritage Softail. It is lighter than the VTX and has a lower center of gravity. The lower center of gravity makes the Heritage feel much lighter than the VTX. The twin cam 96B runs smoother.
@GixxerFoo Жыл бұрын
You hit an excellent point there on the center of gravity, metrics are great bikes but they sit up really high! I know they do it for ground clearance and lean angle but it makes the bikes so much heavier.

I have a 1986 Softail & 2017 ultra limited that I just did the quick connect set up on my tour pack in order to remove it when I want, But my wife wants me to go ahead and get the Tri - Glide in the near future because we think it would just be a lot more fun to travel and take a tent and camp out like at Sturgis and Daytona bike week and save a ton of money on Hotel Rooms and have the security of being more safe on the highway no matter what the weather is like.
