I think the Ares S is $179 not $79... Otherwise great video.
@Avruthlelbh10 ай бұрын
Honestly, It'd arguably be worth it for $79. I'm all for paying a bit more just to get something higher quality, but there's no world where I could understand spending a comparable amount of money or more on a cable as you would your actual IEMs. I get it's mostly aesthetics and comfort, but holy shit, some of these wires are several grand each. It's a cable; these prices are hospital levels of overpriced.

Please do note that for the Cadmus/Ares line, termination swapper (termX) is not included by default and costs $80 extra as an additional option. It does come with conX (mmcx, 2-pin). you can send your cable to effect audio for a retrofit service if you want to add termX later but it is very expensive (near $170 according to authorize effect audio dealer in my country). I did not do a proper research when I purchased my cadmus originally, thinking termX is included by default. Don't be like me.

Used to be a fan of EA cables, but here are some cons I've personally experienced that make me not favor their cables anymore. 1) The 0.78mm connector can loosen your IEM's socket (mentioned to me by a local IEM maker and happened to my MEST mk2) 2) The cables I had stiffened over time (Eros S and Ares S, not so much Cadmus) 3) Generally not great with microphonics. 4) The metal sleeve on the audio jack for the lower end models can come loose (happened to my Ares S and Eros S). 5) Their 8W models use the same chin slider as the 4W model, despite being thicker, so it's very hard to adjust on the 8W model. 6) I personally found ConX to be a lot less useful than I expected, since I prefer having a dedicated cable for each IEM I have instead of using one cable for multiple sets. 7) TermX, which I find more useful then ConX, is a costly upgrade. One pro for me though, is that I found them easy to buy/sell in my local 2nd hand market.

The code24 is a perfect example of form over function - Its unwieldy, supremely uncomfortable, and painful to use. With that out of the way it is beautiful to look at and performs well that is if I can keep my IEMs with this in my ears. The cable is heavy and I cant keep my 64 Audio Volur in my ears. Even if I manage to do so within half an hour it becomes painful to use. The cable is too rigid around the ears. Another challenge that I faced was that I couldnt seat this cable fully on the Astell&Kern SP3000T with the case on as the termination is to wide and gets obstructed by the leather case, I had to remove the case. I also purchased an Effect Audio Eros S cable, which has no such issues, is beautiful to look at and performs as well as this at one third the cost.
