That's the first thing I've noticed - I would say him getting acquainted with a new home was also quick too; I think he never was fully ignored but they were also dealing with so many other birds. My grey was content when she was around me regardless of interaction.

It's a rare bird and belongs with his friends in Africa West Africa. I managed to get my Mum to let our bird go free. Cameroon. The local people treat parrots with the highest respect. It's not Caruthers. But make sure you release back into the forest possible near Kenya Nairobi. Let them settle.

I love watching this video. I rescued my grey when he was 5 years old in terrible condition and had very few feathers. With lots of love and attention and correct feeding he blossomed and became a very loving pet, fully interactive and spoke just like Gizmo. After a very short illness he died in December 2022 aged 32 years. We had him for 28 years and was the most loved member of the family. We miss him dearly and watching Gizmo reminds me of my beloved Teddy. TI wish you years of joy with him. Thank you. Margaret xx

I call the day I got my rescue the day she "came home". Obviously, Gizmo could have been in a much better situation, but apparently he DID learn some words, so at least someone was interacting with him and talking to him all those years. It is heartbreaking to think of all the parrots who are acquired for the wrong reasons by people who do not understand what a HUGE responsibility they are taking on. These videos and others help to educate people about how wonderful parrot companions can be and also to caution people, and hopefully prepare them to do their homework before bringing one of these amazing companions into their home. The parrots thank you!

“Happy Guy” My eyes have some sort of fluid welling up in them?!? Lol, so glad you rescued this lil guy. He’s so freaking smart and his knowledge of words, phrases and sounds are amazing!! Edit: after reading the description, I hope he regains his wing strength and is able to fly soon. What that freedom would feel to him….we can only imagine!
