Well traditionally people have kept birds in a cage out of fear of getting bitten, losing the bird or sheer ignorance. It doesn't mean they didn't love the bird and clearly Gizmo's previous owner did communicate with him directly since that's where a lot of his vocabulary and voice impressions come from.

@@briarrose7016 they said he was actually segregated from people and birds and that he had little interaction with anyone. If you look at his early pics, that is a very unhappy bird. Clearly he learned because HE WANTED TO and less about what he was taught.

It’s because he has been blessed with human beings that understand him and love him unconditionally. They will keep him, feed him care for him, and love him for the rest of his life and he knows this innately. This is why this transition has been successful. If it were a different set of people that obtained him the outtake may not have been as successful. It takes the right kind of person for these creatures, and those persons feel it in their heart; they live The old mantra Gods creatures great and small.

hi hi, my African Grey bird Baby watches Gizmo's videos all the time on tv, She loves Gizmo very much and i know this because she said "i love you" to the tv several times, Baby really wants a bird friend and when i can im going to get her a friend, she has benefitted So much from Gizmo's and other bird's videos and i just wanted to say thank you for posting them, Baby is very sweet and she doesnt talk much and when she does its in a bird voice and im the only one who can understand her, we live in toronto and we are best friends with Alana who is our next door neighbour we spend all our time at Alana's house and Baby loves her very much too, Baby doesnt eaqsily perform tricks or anything shes kind of stubborn as well as shes bored by stuff like that--see she isnt treat motivated at all, she does however know names of colours and understands a tonne of what we say aroud her shes very bright, the three of us spend lots of time together--Baby is totally captivated by Alana when she speaks and its true Alana is adorable too, thats just a bit about Baby's family, Baby will watch bird shows as much as we will let her and its been good to put on a bird show for her when we leave to run errands, Baby sends her Hello to all of you,

It's heartbreaking to know that he spent 16 years caged and not acclimated to humans, but it's nice to see that he's doing so well Youv'e done an amazing job with him. What a joy he is to watch/hear. I have an African Grey that I got as a baby. She's 23 now and she talks up a storm. She likes to interact with my UPS man when he drives up and she sees him through the window. When I see him drive up, i open the window so they can hear each other. In the warmer months the window is open during the day. She say's. "Hellooooo" "What's up?" "Whatcha doin' over there? as the UPS driver leaves my packages and when he goes to leave she says." Thanks for coming." "Love ya man!" My UPS man loves it and he's always calling out to my Ruby when he approaches my house. I just love Grey's!
