PSA to folks who buy this. Use the gigabyte Geforce drivers and not the nvidia ones. Doing some timespy testing I get a GPU score of 7640 with the latest nvidia drivers and 8193 with the ones from the gigabyte website. Further testing shows that the GPU maxes out around 1450mhz with the nvidia drivers and 1750mhz with the gigabyte drivers. It does get about 6-8c warmer though (62-64c vs 68-70c). Still thats a huge performance loss. PSA!

I'm really happy with it, keyboard is nice with decent feel, battery life is more than good enough for meetings and what not as long as you adjust some settings. Seems to be a bit loud when gaming...but since I have it hooked up to my TV 10' away it is a minor gripe. Enjoy sir!

@@makas61sd60 its not too bad apart from 3 or 4 stuck pixels in the display.. make sure you have a good return policy if you can.. battery life is only about an hour playing games.. fan noise depends if you configure performance or balanced.. on performance or plugged in to ac fan is pretty loud but it does keep the system cool.. i am using it for linux gaming and games like code vein are just fine at medium to medium high in performance mode..

Also recording while streaming at 60fps 1080. Just get a cooling pad so it gets chiller, it doesn't go past 78 degrees on GPU with all that at fans at Max. (Headset is mandatory, it gets loud at max)

@@emileonaicker2002 battery is wack . KZbin and 3 more tabs open and you get 30min- 1 hour or so (maybe more but it feels like no time. BUT you can get to the battery without opening the laptop so BIG advantage) Thermals are great, the only downside I have is fans go loud compared to my Alienware 15R3 on normal workload, but you can tweak it (I prefer loudness than high temps) [It doesn’t really go high on temps tho] 8/10 would buy again plus the Display goes to 244hz I think. (I use secondary 27” monitor at 60hz but if I need more fps, I just use main display)

This been a "fatter" laptop with removable battery made it to the top of my list. It really is more flexible, has room for 2.5 HDD and a 2nd M.2, so take your pick, speed or storage. The other 2 laptops I saw had room for a 2nd M.2 but a 2-4TB 2.5 would be cheaper for storage. Wondering if you can use both. Some old laptops wouldn't allowed you. Like the hick lower bezel cause it raise the display. I'm still saving so there will be more options. But this is winning.

its like you see it hit 90-100c and throttle in cyberpunk....and have to choose between....CS:GO/valorant etc....performance with intel off top. VS amd/does it have a mux/if not less FPS than intel in esports for 240hz/fps...."laughs" as if ppl play those games on max. IDC about 5-8fps variations across similarly powered 80-95w 3060s. The various cpus/power limits concurrently paired with 3060s. Temps matter most in overall lifetime of a laptop/user/gamer. This 100c hitting 10500 or 4c 11370 etc...bs. Wont hit 100c in valorant or cs:go...per ex.....yet here in cyerpunk....100c throttling....yet i only got my trayshe AF 120hz ips MSI in 2019...bc i wanted a replacement for my RIP sandy system. I was gonna get a 144hz+ FHD monitor anyways to play off of....i just wanted good "hardware" and 1tb ssd at least. The cooling system was meh/budget....much like this one performs and most likely the asus TUF.....it hit 80c range too in FC5 or other intensive games for cpu. Then i undervolted it like -.250.....which most of these options cannot do. Plus the 1660ti @80w=1900mhz. VS these constantly jumping AMPERE options....of which only add to the voltage issues said 100c intel will encounter. Go with AMD...its just the safer option. Most of them are essentially built from the ground up laptops in 2021....so the cooling etc is well planned and typically made for performance. VS intel is all sell off bamboozle.

I don't know the response time, but I can tell it is very quick and suitable for competitive gaming. You should be able to swap the battery while the unit is plugged in, otherwise you'll need to shutdown and then swap batteries.

i got a 3050ti version of the gigabyte g5.. gotta be honest, its really not worth it.. it isn't actually a gigabyte product but a tongfang rebrand.. it has done some weird things like refused to start up until the battery is removed and put back in, this was within a few days of owning it, needless to say this had me gravely concerned.. i suspect it may do weirder things over time.. not to mention the screen is at best a B grade, and mine had come with 3 dead pixels that are difficult to unsee :( .. but overall the performance is pretty good and is definitely better than nothing.. the headroom for overclocking is also excellent apparently, but i wouldnt be game enough to try it

I have this laptop and love it but the CPU seems to run hot almost all games push it to 90C pulse according to core temp. So I have two questions if anyone can help. First is 90c - 100c to hot for this i5? Second Is there any way to cool other than turning up the fans? The 10870H should draw more power and run higher FPS in CPU bound games, especially in ones that can efficiently use multi core performance. But in GPU bound games, there won't be much difference between these two.
