Man, my first Gibson was an RD standard. It was natural maple in finish, with passive electronics. I got it brand new at the time in Regina Saskatchewan for I'm pretty sure $480.00 CDN. This channel is a real gem, I'm so happy I stumbled across it. If I didn't subscribe a week ago, I had better do it now!

3:07 Hey Gordie, Greetings from Dartmouth Nova Scotia. (Home of Mr Joel Plaskett) Here on the local CBC radio station they still play the intro you did, (where you wonder out loud if Joel is listening) . I enjoy the stories about the guitars and the songs. I got here because a friend , ( who grew up with a 1968 Dodge Charger 383 auto, ) and I had a chat about the Charger 500, like the one in Hemi Vision. A rare car for sure..

Ps. Love the Garnet "G" in Grady. Having been a western Canadian boy, I ran my RD Standard through a beat old Garnet BTO that I mistakenly pulled the center shaft out of the main three pots while trying to get those ugggggly gigantic door knob style knobs off, ( being rather dumb, I did not notice the set screws until after I had pooched all three pots). I had my younger smarter brother rig my amp up so that all three main controls were set permanently cranked to 10, all boosts on. I blew it up by using idiot trick #1 a fuse wrapped in foil because I had just blown a fuse ( du-oh!) and just needed to keep the hot rehearsal going. You can guess how many more SECONDS the amp lived before the main transformer blew... Not my smartest moment. Actually, I really do wish I could get it back.

Brother Joel has a couple of these hanging at New Scotland Yard, but his are the all maple RD Customs. One of them (the dark brown one) has P94s in it. Too cool.

I actually own an rd artisan. A Lee mahlia with a p90 in the neck and a humbucker that splits in the bridge position. It is a killer!

Gordie, you must have flipped the magnet in that pickup too. Turning it around won’t change the sound but flipping the magnet puts the pickups out of phase (which is what it sounds like you have in the RD). Great video!
