Barrie is the ideal player to showcase vintage gear; the melody maker sounds fantastic in his capable hands.

Hey, everyone at Guitarist Magazine, I am so, so grateful to you for the videos you've made with Barry. I've gone back to those earlier videos more times than I can count because they are so inspiring. Barry's an incredibly inspiring player, with such an incredible spirit, his playing always leaves me feeling like I'm back in my early teenage years, just discovering music and guitar. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I can well remember when Mountain put out 'Mississippi Queen', and people were stunnned to learn that Leslie West had performed that on a Gibson Melody Maker similar to what you have here. Granted, they were produced as 'student models', but the more astute pros knew what to do with them...

Totally used the right guy. Barrie is awesome and unheard of in a lot of circles. He’s always impressed the hell out of me. I’d like to see him get together with Jared James Nichols. What a combo that would be. Like the Junior the Melody Maker is a great, light electric. Underpriced right now. Buy one whilst you can. Rory just wanted the MM for slide. We need less crap and more talent. Anyone can sound good with a shit load of effects and crap. You can hook it up to a Blues Jr or a nice little Supro and get such great tones. Just bought a new Gibson USA Junior just for fun and honestly I’m using it more than my fancy, expensive LPs and Teles and Strats. It’s forcing me to use the tone and volume knobs much more.

Boring. All good guitars sound the same. Put a artists name to them multiply the price by 10. No different. Modern day guitars are just as good for 500 to 1000 pounds in my opinion. Then again, whatever pedals put on them. Who knows what’s going on?
@flyingburritobro68Күн бұрын
New is OK but something about the wood in the 50’s and early 60’s guitars that produces a tone all on its own with no gimmicks. Tube amp and a Jr with one P90 pickup exposed you for how good you really are as a player
