First time since 1995 and first time since the free language rule was reinstated back in 1999. When you add Ukraine into the mix, that's 4 out of the top 5 songs that were not in English. Additionally, the entire top 6 were either fully or partially composed by the artists themselves (no outside help from Sweden)

Truth is spoken, in 2021, we had total lockdown and I graduated high school, so I had lots of time, I listened to this song, understood the story behind it, fell in love ,and from then onwards I religiously followed him ,every minute , every second, so much so that I stayed awake till 4am at night to watch the semi and grand finals (Indian time) and I literally was crying in front of my parents the next day that he didn't win ,and I try at all costs not to be emotional in front of them.. I have no words. The POWER. He didn’t have a fancy or extraordinary stage with complicating surroundings or a song that would go viral just because it has a weird feeling but he had his insane vocal abilities, his emotion and an insane song and managed to slay.
