Bought my first mechanical keyboard two days ago, Anne Pro 2 with Gateron browns. After feeling a lot of spring ping and rattling, I don't trust my abilities in de-soldering. I think, in the long run, spending about 20 more dollars on a keyboard will be well worth it. Maybe I'm trying to rationalize spending money. The GK61XS is the most like the Anne Pro 2 so I'm excited to start building. I will be definitely be checking out your tutorial for lubing switches as well!

I recommend that you glue down the hotswap sockets, because they tend to be easily pushed out if you insert a switch with too much force. If that happens, you will most likely had lifted the pad. Another option is to detach the case when you swap switches, and support the sockets from the back while you insert switches.

The one and ONLY thing that would make this a more perfect board is that it uses south facing switches, opening more keycap opportunities (mainly cherry profile caps) and more in line with the enthusiasts' eyes. I mean they already are using opaque xda profile caps already, not sure what they are losing out to change the orientation. Other than that, I personally think this board is a steal for what it's worth, and goes to show how the market has changed drastically over time, with great releases such as the womier66, KC84, this and the upcoming NK65 entry edition. Glad to see how the scene has changed so much over the years ^^

Are you buying this keyboard? Let me know! This is a pretty decent keyboard! I had to make a quick review because the Kickstarter is about to end. I still think making your own keyboard is better, but this is a great start if you don't want to fork out the money yet OR you want to try unique switches! You could easily then take the switches and solder it into a DIY mechanical keyboard EASILY! Thanks for watching! How I made my own iPhone cable is coming to you EXTREMELY soon! :)

Wow nice review JUJU. Definitely getting it. Backspace fine after a week? Nice they trying extra backspace key or moving del to where tilde is swapping their positions. Also, you could rebind the backspace key to spacebar. They need it for european and Latin American language layouts. If I dont, does it mean my money goes into donation? Or will I get full refund? Also the plastic case color is not given so if I choose pink keycaps will it by default ensure white case ? @juju what are your thoughts on overall typing accuracy, comfortableness on this keyboard considering these are XDA profiles? Compared to OEM or Cherry profiles
@JoeGaz
@JoeGaz 4 жыл бұрын
I really liked the XDA profile caps. I didn't mind them in comparison to Cherry or OEM. I only have trouble with XDA or these flatter profiles if they have no characters. I would lose track of finger placement if they didn't have legends, but in this case it was perfect! Very thick and high quality too!
@xtet8087
@xtet8087 4 жыл бұрын
Typing on xda is really relaxed IMO, the large surface area plus the smooth pbt texture of GK branded xda caps really makes for a very plesant typing experience I got around the uniformed profile by using a wrist rest to negate the angling from my wrist to the topper caps, personally a wrist rest is a must have for me (even for other profiles), but this addition is what got me into uniformed keycap profiles And in case you are wondering, I had a gk64 with these branded keycaps before, assuming that nothing has changed (regarding the texture), mine should be pretty close to what my experience on this board should be

Vinh Doan in all honesty, you either move your hand to the backspace or reach to the backspace while holding onto the home row. with the former backspace method, getting used to it is really easy. And if you do the latter, better put backspace on the pipe like the hhkb does for better ergonomics People have been railing about the backspace which is pretty weird. Though I would say that Epo did it because of visual balancing between the left side and the right, while it doesn’t *seem* good functionally, aesthetically speaking, I do feel like this board really hits the nail on the head.

Does it is VIA compatible? Does it have the ISO option? If doesn't have this things for me it's a no go. I'll buy another DZ60 HS ISO that is so easily customizable I'll recommend DZ60 v3 HS over any other pcb... Pair it with a plastic case and some cheap (but good) pbt keycaps and you wouldn't be spend a lot more of this keyboard. But honestly 160u$ for the aluminum case it's a very good entry price

I still went for the anne pro 2 since I wanted Kailh Box White Switches and prefer the better stabilizer of anne pro 2 compared to GK68. I would have to buy kailh white switches again if I went for gk68 and that'd result in a 50$ premium compared to Anne Pro 2 :) That being said my case is a rather special one and I do agree with you saying that many should just go for the gk68. A 60% keyboard is not for everyone and most people should avoid it.

Hi Juju For gaming I’d like to know if this would work with the software. Pressing and holding W to walk forwards. Pressing one of the split space bar keys to switch layers. The W key on this layer would be bound to another key, lets go with the 2 key. In most games the number keys bound for weapons. Does it work to be walking forwards ingame and quickly switching to weapon 2 without releasing the W key?
