Oh and btw, he got a call to open the show with 3songs, he wasnt part of the main main show here. He had his rehearsal right after he arrived from his US tour with Erik Santos and David was there and probably was impressed. David asked him if they can try All By Myself during rehearsal (and stell probably thinking maybe david just wants to hear him sing it) but right after that, david asked him if they can perform that in the actual concert.

Stell is a counter tenor, the rarest of all voices, and even rarer to hear in pop music. So yeah, Lucas was right about that.

He said that when he was little he already good at singing because of all the karaoke done at home so he did not want to learn it as what his grandfather want him to do but he like dancing since he has to learn the moves. That is why he joined dance groups when he was in high school and college.

Stell talked a bit about his backstory as a performer in his Billboard Volumes interview. He was already a good singer as a child and his family is good at singing so they arranged for him to have voice lessons (from someone who also taught the popular OPM artist, Sitti). But he pretty much ran away from that and went to dance lol. The story as he told it was quite funny, too. Looking forward to how your girl group turns out!

I never knew I'd still see you react to this but here we are and I cannot be any happier. I don't think you realized though that when you say Stell has an incredible range, that includes low voice. Man, he can even sing MAPA all by himself, even down to Ken's lowest of low parts. His low voice, even to a lot of people, is more pleasant. It's silky and buttery smooth because of his very rich and slow vibrato that you rarely hear in SB19 songs coz he was always assigned the highest parts of their songs.

Actually, david foster surprised stell by asking him if he wanted to sing this in the rehearsal! Mad lad! Stell was only supposed to sing room, a bruno mars song (the versace on the floor thing), plus one other song i think. But david asked him, and stell was speechless but went through with it. Because as you said, he's been singing it regularly, and that, "he shouldn't say no to blessings." He had a vlog about it.

You should check out Stell singing Sometime, Somewhere at Sir Ryan Cayabyab's birthday celebration. From that performance came Stell's Di Ko Masabi written by Sir Ryan. Sometime, Somewhere sounds like it could be right off a Broadway musical. Sir Ryan is like the Filipino version of David Foster.

During Stell’s Billboard PH interview, he said that his parents enrolled him to a voice lesson but he found ways not to be able to pursue it because he wanted to dance more and he knows that he already has the voice. On the contrary, Stell himself clarified that part in an interview. He explained that he was actually rehearsing the last lines of the song before he hit the chorus with the high prolonged note, and not praying as most people were thinking.

Stell, during his young age was always pushed by his mom to sing during family events/celebration. Her mom also pushed him to do voice lessons but Stell chose to join dance groups to avoid voice lessons. but later, when Stell and his groupmates joined ShowBT, that's where he started to sing. Stell's voice is his greatest talent aside from being a very good dancer. now he started to rap. a very multitalented young man.

if i remember correctly, in an interview, stell said all by myself wasn't even one of the original songs david foster meant for him to sing in that concert. it's like when david heard him sing live during the rehearsals, he just asked stell if he was willing to sing that song. and, as you pointed out, stell is as humble as he could be and he just sooooo wanted to make sure he could do it really well with an oomph factor. so he sang it at the usual level during rehearsals and he asked the rest of sb19 to please allow him to not use his voice at all. turns out the wow factor he pulled out was raising it even higher than expected!
