There was only one show in the Manila leg of David's concert series. Stell was the opening act and he had 3 songs in his set. According to Stell, he was supposed to rehearse on stage for the evening's performance (btw, he had only a few hours' rest after flying in with the group from a provincial concert the evening before) but he saw David playing the piano on stage, so he hung around, thinking it wasn't his turn yet. But then David called him and asked if he had his IEM on, and then he was asked to try singing All By Himself. He was a bit confused at the time, wondering why, but he complied and sang it. After a bit of coaching on how to sing the David Foster arrangement (the song was composed by Eric Carmen) for Celine Dion, Stell was asked if he wanted to perform it that very evening. And the rest was history. So, Stell did not have a lot of time to rehearse although he asked the 1Z vocal coach to guide him through the song as he was still unfamiliar with it and, yeah, he knew a lot was riding on that performance. He dropped hints on social media that he was going to have a special performance besides the opening act just a few minutes before he had to go on stage at 7:45 PM. Of course, the sleuths in the fandom had put two and two together and kinda knew that something was up. And.... the rest is history. So, yeah, we were surprised. Even the audience had no idea Stell was coming back on stage. In fact, not many people there knew who Stell, or SB19, was. The venue was not full even when the opening act was underway, so some in the audience had not seen Stell's opening act performance when he was asked to be on stage to sing "All By Myself." Of course there were many A'tin there but the whole coliseum was wowed by his performance. I heard from some reactors that the highest note Stell reached was a G5. Social media was abuzz for many hours and many people are inquiring about or checking out Stell and SB19's songs. I loved Stell's performance. He had little preparation, was vocally exhausted from the previous night's concert in a southern province and his 3-song set in the opening, but he stepped up, my gohd, he delivered!

I'm A'Tin but that title is still difficult to claim and may be subjective. No doubt he is "probably" the BEST male performer talent-wise right now. But male vocalist? he was just supposed to be the opening act for david's show, but david noticed him when he did his soundcheck and invited him to sing that on the main show. david also mentioned how it took a few tries for celine to do that impossible note and stell only has one try. also, stell has only ever performed that song once (i meant an actual performance of it). he toured for pagtatag with defying gravity for his solo stage, and my heart will go on for pagtatag asia. he only performed all by myself during their back in the zone concert, which was way back in 2021.

Eric Carmen was the original singer of "All By Myself" but David tweaked it for Celine to a higher key and that's what Stell sang into. And what made it special was that song was not part of the original plan. Stell was the opening act singing 3 songs then was brought up later again on stage to sing "All By Myself." Stell has been incredibly busy these past few months, juggling performances, meetings, and preparations for his solo debut. He was gearing up for Mr. Ryan C's show while also getting ready for the Pagtatag Finale. According to Stell, preparations for the "Room" MV was only done after their concert, which likely contributed to him falling ill the day before the media launch of "Room." Despite being sick, Stell attended the launch with his doctor by his side. Following the launch, Stell traveled to Agusan del Sur (in the southern Philippines) with his brothers to perform at the Nilayagan Festival on June 17. The next day, he flew back to Manila for David Foster's concert, where he was scheduled to perform three songs as the opening act. During rehearsals, Stell was surprised to see David Foster himself at the piano. David asked if Stell had his in-ear monitors ready to try out a song. When Stell inquired about the song, David replied with "All By Myself." Shocked, Stell asked if he would be performing it that night. David suggested they give it a try. With only a brief run-through of the arrangement, Stell didn't have a proper rehearsal for the song-it was entirely impromptu. Adding to the pressure, before Stell's performance, a clip of an interview with Celine Dion was shown. In the interview, Celine shared how challenging it was for her to hit the "money note" in the song. David said Celine had several attempts that time but pointed out that Stell would only have one chance that night. Imagine the pressure! That’s why he seemed so careful and concentrated-it was due to nervousness. Also, this was only the second time that Stell sang the this song in a concert---the first one was during their online concert back in 2022. For their Pagtatag US & Canada Tour, he sang Defying Gravity and for their Asia Tour, he sang My Heart Will Go On for his solo performances.

SB19 has a new vocal coach which is Coach Brenan Espartinez and I think he played a big part of how well SB19 has more stable voices and added technique on singing. You're right Stell definitely did not show he was tired, though he definitely was. I give him a pass for that one second constriction it added more emotion to the performance. SB19 performed 6 songs the night before, then Stell hopped on a plane back to Manila straight to rehearsal for what was supposed to be a 3-song opening act. DF offered a challenge and Stell accepted and we're so so blessed to hear the outcome. Aside from superb technique, I think his core strength developed from being a dancer most of his life aided him tremendously in singing endurance and stability.

The rehearsal was just once and he didn't really belt because he wasn't really expecting anything. All he knew is that, David Foster changes the course of his concert at the last minute. He told the story of it in his fb account and in one interview I watched earlier. It was also a lot of pressure because he was called on stage again and was told "You only have ONE chance to sing the song" right before playing a video clip of Celine Dion telling the story of the recording of that song.

Okay, here's the story. He was never part of the main program as he was just the front act before the main concert starts. During his rehearsals for his songs for being the front act, he allegedly was heard by David Foster, and the latter went to his piano and then asked Stell if he (Stell) is wearing his (Stell) in-ear monitor. David then asked him to try "a" song. They were just having a dry run as David was guiding him through the arrangement, so Stell did not belt it out at that time. He then asked Stell if he wants to perform the song, then Stell responded with "If it's okay with you, sir". This conversation happened (if I am not wrong) an hour before the concert, so it's a last-minute change. Stell did not have an intimate and exclusive rehearsals with David, just a run through as how his arrangement has to be sung. Perhaps David trusted Stell he could do it, probably because he (David) remembers that Stell was one of those included on a TikTok video compilation of singers belting this song, where David commented with "wow" emoji.

The story before behind that- Stell supposedly rehearsed his part, as he comes to the stage he was shock that Mr. Foster was there playing the piano. Mr. Foster asked him to try sung that song and after that he said "wanna sing it with me?" (nonverbatim) and the rest is history😊. Indeed Stell is undeniably a total challenger and performer. He nailed it fabulously😊

He literally came from Korea to Mega Ball, to sickness, then travelled by plane to Agusan del Sur for a provincial performance where they performed 6 songs, then went back to MNL the morning after and the night after performed at David's concert. He was supposed to sing 3 songs as front act. This performance wasn't part of the plan at all. It was just during soundcheck that David asked if he can perform it. THAT MAN IS A GIFT FROM GOD ... good lawd he is blessed and we are blessed.

Stell has only performed this once back in 2021 i think. The ones he had been performing on tour were Defying Gravity and My Heart will Go On. So yeah, this was a surprise for him too haha

the in-ear story was during rehearsals, not during the show. I think they did rehearse this before the show so stell can know the arrangement, but he only knew abt performing this during the rehearsals, still an amazing feat considering he had last minute preparations.

All by my self was not included to Stells setlist but during David soundcheck he ask stell if he wanna try this song ,,,,,and If I remembered it correctly the last time he sing /cover "all by myself" was during their back in the zone concert 2021so it was 3years ago...

Actually it was somehow like impromptu because during the soundcheck of Stell for his 3 songs to be performed as front act, Mr. David Foster ask Stell if he can sing All By Myself, after Mr. David heard Stell's version of the song, he told Stell if he wants to sing it that night and Stell answered if it is ok with Mr. David, and with that, Mr. David gave Stell some instructions on the arrangement of the song. And that's how it happened. I guess the reason why Stell keeps on looking at Mr. David is because, since there was no proper rehearsal, Stell is waiting for possible instruction or cue from Mr. David. And that part when Stell is seen mumbling, all the while i guess he is praying, but no, because in his tiktok live recently, he said he was practising that part "don't wanna live by myself anymore...by myself anymore...". And that's the story of what happened during the night when Stell show to the world what he is capable of, thereby waving with so much pride the flag of the Philippines! Proud to be a Filipino!!!
