@@keithselden2096 it's not supposed to be subjective. It's a matter of knowing verses believing. But this was a great example of people insisting they know something they don't really know, which means even if you take the subjective out of it, the problem remains. There is no fixing people insisting they saw something they obviously didn't. When you break it down to that point, how a rule is stated has nothing to do with it. Only way to fix that problem is to not having players make the decisions which is impractical in golf.

They asked if Eagle's throw can be beat and he replied and his reply was correct. Eagle's throw wasn't under the basket. I don't know Scott at all and I don't have an opinion about him. And no footage has provided evidence that Eagle's throw to the island green crossed IB. TD said that inside the curb is OB line. Disc most likely crossed the outside line, but no evidence if it crossed inside line. Oh well, Eagle missed the putt so it doesn't matter. Usually it is player's advantage if decision can't be made and it's only skins match so I would have said that I'm fine with IB decision.

I think the bottom of Eagle's disc initially hits the top of the curb. I tried watching frame by frame but the quality is bad and just not enough frames to say for sure. I'm surprised Withers was so adamant about something that's pretty clearly a 50/50 call. Good for Eagle to speak up about what he thought happened.

That replay didn't didn't show disc touching IB. It showed that it hit the top of the curb, but didn't TD say that IB line is the inside line of the curb. If disc hit the outer edge of the curb, then it may have never crossed IB. I haven't seen a footage from the sideview that would show if the disc crossed the line or not. If OB line was outside of the curb, then I would say it was IB. Well, Eagle won the argument and missed the putt so no harm done and made the discussion meaningless.

I reenvented my putting game after thirty years of playing but didn’t really get it right till I slow motioned half a dozen pros and noticed certain patterns. But I’ll say this for sure Simon said one thing that was absolutely crucial and it was , you have to commit to the grip. If you don’t grip hard through 90% of the motion in the putt you fail in some way. But it made such a big difference. Confidence is grip and timing. Good luck double G!

Fwiw the curb OB rule is just asking for controversy like that in the tournament. So hard from distance to judge if it clanks at the bottom or 50/50s the curb. But Eagle was being honest, and Scott came off looking like a tool.

If it's hard to judge then it's good. Which actually isn't hard. The issue isn't what something would show to be true in stop-frame replay. The issue is players insisting they know something when they don't. Happens all the time and it's ridiculous. Our senses are suspect at best and if players are going to be responsible for making such calls (which they almost have to be), the criteria needs to be "no doubt". But even then, you will have players insisting they saw something that didn't really happen. In this case, with a 4 person card, all it should take is one player other than the thrower to say they aren't certain. That's it. It's rule in favor of the thrower and everybody shuts up and continues play. There shouldn't be any negotiations or players trying to influence other players. Each player (not including the thrower) should simply say what they saw or didn't see and if there is any doubt the ruling should be in favor of the thrower. The thrower shouldn't say a word.

However, he went on to destroy this tournament, which might have been in part because of that one debate, which could have frustrated and motivated the internal ‘Squatch to smash everything. I would guess that's probably part of it. The call was very close--I don't fault them for thinking he never crossed--but I doubt they argue so hard against it if Eagle had been skunked up to that point. But yes, bad look for Withers. When you get as snippy as he did, you have to be 100% sure that you're correct.

Or are you going to admit you were wrong to you know.....advance the sport? What is the possibility you have done it in the past? What is the possibility it's done all the time by players in tournaments? Insisting they saw exactly what it did? Insisting this is how it has to be when they are wrong? Any lessons learned? How long have you two guys been playing disc golf? How many tournaments have you played in? How many calls have you made? There is an important lesson to be learned here. Just wondering if any career players have learned it.
