In short: You need money for the translation and notarization of your documents / You need enough money to spend 2 months in Korea (food/accommodation mainly) while you don't have access to a credit card that they will provide you with the program money (the program money is usually enough for you to pay for everything you need, but even then you need at least 2 months of security) / It's quite rare but if you possibly need to pay for your flight to Korea save money too (but obviously email the universities to find out about the university's policies with the program beforehand and also about accommodation)

It's a general knowledge that NIIED doesn't pay for accommodation that's why you have your stipend which is enough to cover your accommodation and other expenses 😊

If it’s possible you should prepare between $80-$100 and this also depends on how you manage your spendings otherwise you might have to prepare more that amount. However the good thing is, if you’re able to open a bank account upon arrival in Korea, you’re likely going to receive your stipends right away and might not have to wait for as long as 3months.

@ Thanks for your response! I appreciate it! In your university, how long did it take for you to get your ARC and open a bank account? Did they assist you with processing? Also, what was the period of arrival they provided you? Like, can you move to Korea right after your dorm is settled or you have to wait for your university for a specific date when you can move?

@ it took 3 weeks to get my ARC and I was able to open a bank account without an ARC, as such I had a bank account even before getting my ARC hence I was able to receive my stipends right away. ( please note that like every other place in the world, there are many banks and they all have their respective policies for opening a bank account). This depends on your university, however one thing is certain, every university have specific move in dates. Therefore as you progress through the application, your university will inform you of specific dates/ duration for checking into the dormitory.

Regarding the document I will need for visa in Korea what if I make photocopies of my documents that I already legalized can't I make use of them instead of re- legalizing my documents again.

@@risikatfn3028 certainly you can do so but if the signatures on the copies you make are older than 6months by the time of visa application, the embassy will request that you get recent signatures hence you might need to re-legalize ( I think I should make a video explaining this better)

@@Thatsgifted Nigeria is not part of The Hague convention, which means for us we do not do “apostille”. For us APOSTILLE is what the Korea embassy does on our document (I.e AUTHENTICATE / CONSULAR APPROVE)

@@yimaimauzzy5589 hmmm this all depends o. Depends on the exchange rate at the time of your preparation to depart for Korea and depends on your university’s dormitory fee. So it’s best to check the school you plan on enrolling in prior to that time. In the Gks guidelines these are all stated (cost if dormitory per semester) if it not stated you can contact the university directly via email or phone. All the best ✨

The embassy no longer accepts submission of docs so if someone is telling you to submit to kccn please do so you won't miss deadline thinking it's wrong information
