Sound of my childhood. Many, many nights I laid in bed in our house in Wickett, TX as a kid, listening to the EMD's hammering down the main line at 50-60mph. You'd hear/feel the engine long before the horn sounded, and long after.

How about a mini emd v-16 2 stroke turbo in a 2022 Polaris khaos snowmobile! I thought about an opposed piston Polaris 1700 made from 2 850 patriot turbo like Fairbanks Morse 2 stroke and lay it down in the sled with silber turbo. Luke a mine Fairbanks Morse powered Polaris. It’s like this new oil injected Cummins 2 stroke mart.cummins.com/imagelibrary/data/assetfiles/0058689.pdf

Nothing to my ears beats the two cycle, turbocharged EMD engine, with the non-turbo 567's or the later non-turbo 645's found on the Conrail GP=15-1's. From the GP30's to the SD-80's, they all feature that distinctive turbo whine and cool sounds spooling up and down from idle. The unicorn to catch would have been the H-engine found on the SD90's owned by UP and CP, but it's very likely these engines never strayed far from the far west homes before they were sent to the dead lines. Those newer Progress Rail/EMD Tier 4 1010 engines that took the place of that H-engine have to be the quietest 4 stroke engine on the market today. But as imposing as they are, they don't have the aural "soul" of the two stroke supercharged/turbocharged EMD's of old. Great job, as usual, AC!!

I think rotax should come out with an etec 2 stroke with ranging from 690 CID to 800 CID per cylinder running ethanol. Polaris should do the same. Both have sicy turbo 2 stroke 850’s. Tge tugboat I’m on has 8-645 and 6-71. The 8-645 are all needle roller bearing motors. One tge other boat I worked on the pull starter broke on the alco v-16s

The same fuctards that go out and buy ugly boring high strung stupid 4 joke stroke outboards. I hate 4 strokes in cars: trucks too. Polaris and rotax are on tge right tracks with their newer 2 stroke turbo sleds. It’ would be nice to see a giant scaled up version of skidoo rotax 850 etec turbo that goes up to 750 cubic inches per cyl, dry sump oil injected, ethanol with dual big magnetos and drop it into a tugboat or train!
