Using Randakks carb rebuild kit and video I rebuilt my carbs. Made this video for my own interest. I do point out some things Randakk doesn't. I suggest watching this and his video when rebuilding your GL1000 carbs. I am not a master of the GL1000 like Randakk so don't expect the same quality video :-)

There are kits out there that have the o-rings already on the parts. This is a MAJOR help when determining orientation of those main fuel jets. Also, there is no guesswork as to which o-ring is the correct one for which part. It's amazing to me that the carb kit makers would force you to guess which o-ring goes where.

The circular aluminum disk is the carb "puck." This "puck" is a critical part about the size and shape of a large aspirin tablet and is located beneath the fuel bowl gasket in the main carb body. It's necessary to cover the access point used in the manufacturing process to create the by-pass transfer ports for the idle circuit.

During a carb rebuild, it's imperative that you remove these to clean the hidden idle circuit passages. Usually, compressed air applied through the idle mixture adjustment screw hole will pop them out (and cause them to fly across the garage like what happened to you!). Unfortunately, the pucks have never been available from Honda (unless you buy a whole carb assembly!). If you've lost or damaged these pucks and need replacements, you will need access to a stash of salvage parts.

For the puks they are avail thru Randakk's. As for the main brass tube that gets damaged, keyster do pretty good kits Inc the main tube. If you are careful enough the puks can come out by air... Always a stubborn one in there tho

I have a question about those plugs that you had to drill out...what are they for, what do they do, what is thier function? I have a `79 that I was trying to redo the carbs on, and my plugs all blew out easily with a gentle squirt of air. So easy in fact, that one plug blew out and hit the floor and vanished into thin air !!. Will that carb flood out now or what do they do ? I need some help.
