Same sadly. But there's a small part of me that's always like well maybe this will be the one that's not horrendous.

The rhino looked real

That was probably the best cgi in the movie. The sharks and baboons looked cartoonish lol

I havent seen it yet but ive read the plot and I knew this would be hot garbage because I remember when Gladiator came out, great movie, me and my friends loved it...and immediately after watching it proceeded to make jokes about how the sequel to this, that they will make (we didnt think it would take 20 years lol) isnt going to make an ounce of sense because to make it even remotely compelling, theyre gonna have to undo everything Russel Crowe did in the previous, and would you look at that, its exactly what they did lol, they verbatim did several jokes we made but played completely straight lol. Also still hate the praetorian guard, over here doing their actual job, which historically was not their bag lol, considering the 3 leading causes of Roman Emperor death are old age, disease and the guard going "know what easier than protecting this prick, having an "accident" befall him and ransoming off the position to the highest bidder".
@filthycasual69Ай бұрын
I actually think they end up looking lame in this one because they get their ass kicked. Lol
@ScreechingPossumАй бұрын
I lost it at "We see the damn hand in the wheat field..." because something that must sound so trivial really does sum up a lot about modern Hollywood 'references' There was speculation when the trailer came out about Denzel's line about 'Rome must fall' questioning if he'd take over Rome...boy did they subvert that expectation. 🙄 These seemingly "Wow!" moments are just the typical checking of boxes for modern Hollywood. Of course there'd be an "archer wife", sharks in the Coliseum, and what sounded like, at the end, literal plot armor. Why TF not? Unlike most recent movies, though...damn, what a waste of good money and production resources.

saw it last night hugely disappointed! They should have had Lucius sneak back into Rome in the beginning and reunite with his mother and some corrupt senator has his mother killed after a sweet reunion and Lucius put into slavery and sent far away. Or maybe not, a sequel should never have been made anyway!
@filthycasual69Ай бұрын
Agreed it never should have been made anyway lol. I mean they could've done pretty much anything and chose to just repeat the first one.

Absolutely not and you should it's one of my favorite movies and it might be my wife's favorite. Lol. This was straight cash grab except they blew the budget out so itll just be a bomb

I don't know how accepting they were of black people...seems like an unnecessary and uneducated comment crazy to say but as you say whatever
@filthycasual69Ай бұрын
Given that it's taking place 2000 years ago in a pseudo historical film I think its relevant. You'd be pretty confused if there were black people being treated as equals in a movie that took place in 1850s America. I don't personally care obviously but it's relevant to the setting.
@MrJustice27dАй бұрын
The span of the Roman empire reflected in every aspect of its society...it was during this time period in particular that the twin emperors would make all the people of Rome official citizens just to tax them sheesh.
@MrJustice27dАй бұрын
Agree with the 1850s america but that would be an instance where in would need a disclaimer...still there is a way more tactful way to express that idea I am sure
@filthycasual69Ай бұрын
Probably but I honestly didn't care that much and just felt the need to mention it given the context of the movie

After GoT and narcos he just seems to be in everyday. My wife actually said after the movie it's to the point where if he's in it I assume it'll be bad. Lol
