Cool truck setup, Dave. I've got the Jackery 500 and a 100w panel. It's outstanding. Costs more than the competition but worth every penny. It ran my 60 liter fridge/freezer for nearly 48hrs on a full charge without any recharging and maintained voltage output right to the end. I can't recommend Jackery more highly.

I run my Dometic fridge/freezer from my Jackery 1000 with two Solar Saga 100’s and keep a Jackery 500 as backup. Also came in handy during the pandemic during blackouts or when our kitchen fridge broke. Very happy with the company.

Great vid! I run the jackery 240 with one 100 watt panel in my camper van. I got usb fan and USB desk light off Amazon. They use next to no wattage and are great for smoothing it. Another thing to note is electric generators are silent. Some campgrounds won't let you run a gas generator after hours. No noise, no smell, thumbs up. Thanks Dave.

I've seen a lot of demonstrations on that jackery and I've seen a few demonstrations on an Inergy and I believe I'm sold on Inergy oh, actually I was so sold on it I bought one but don't get me wrong the jackery is a really good unit it's just like the old saying each to his own and I don't knock anyone for wanting to jackery because I've seen a good friend of mine used one for years and it works great. So have a great day and stay safe!

@TheLawDemon I agee, Luke's review is even more down to earth practical & yes, Luke's is the smaller Jackery 1000. My sentiments about using my Soto Windmaster backpacker's stove, to more efficiently boil water in 2-3 minutes. My primary use of a Power Pack would be to power a refrigerator day & night, to keep food cold or to power, an electric blanket all night long & not have a dead vehicle battery the next morning.

I really like that hot plate. It seemed to be pulling 450 watts. Is that correct? I've watched many videos on this Jackery and I don't recall anyone pointing out the fact that the 2 panel coupler will not provide any charge with just one panel plugged into it, so that was helpful info. I suggest that if you use the Jackery for lighting, don't go with a lamp from your end table at home and a LED bulb. It seems like the smart thing to do at first glance, since LED bulbs are about the lowest wattage bulbs for the amount of light they provide, but inside the bulb is an electronic circuit that has to take the AC power from the inefficient inverter of the Jackery and convert it to DC to light the LED inside the bulb assembly. It is much more efficient to use a string of LEDs that just plug into the USB port of the Jackery, then the inverter doesn't have to run at all. The same would prove true for other small appliances like fans. The ones that run straight off of 12 VDC or USB will run longer before running down the battery bank because they use straight DC. Same as what you pointed out when you mentioned charging MacBooks. You can find USB powered LED stings that provide lots of light, but really powerful fans are going to operate on AC, so small personal fans may be the best you can do there. I'm enjoying this series a lot.

I've enjoyed my set-up from Overland Solar. Then, some dirt-bag broke into my rig and stole my battery case portion of it. Now I need to replace that. Curious now, will my existing solar panel be compatible with another brand of set-up? Good lookin' piece of kit. Now (Dave), wait until you discover the McLean Metalworks hammock hanging set-up which gives you the option of either using a 2" receiver hitch, or an added piece that ratchet straps to your rig's tire... and then the set-up utilizes the 2" receiver on that piece. Sleep in your hammock without trees, right next to your car. Love mine.

Dave, have you checked out the GoalZero brand solar systems? I have been over the past several months checking out the GoalZero 1500watt solar charger with 2 200 watt solar panels. I’m using this system to power 20 quart Iceco refrigerator/ freezer. This setup has for the most part run indefinitely providing I get at minimum of 4 hours of full sunlight each day. The GoalZero 1500 will accept up 600 watt of charge input from either an AC charger or solar panels. Charging the GoalZero 1500 from 0% to 100% with a 600 watt charger takes about 6 hours or less to charge. Check out the GoalZero website for more technical details. For those times I was without extended power ( the Big Texas freeze ) I had no AC power for 72 plus hours, I used a small propane generator periodically to keep the system charged.

Just a reminder, lithium batteries DO NOT LIKE the cold. You won't be able to charge it if it gets down to like 32 degrees. To test this go grab a battery pack for your power tools and leave it sitting in your truck over night and then try to put a charge in it. The battery tech is just too limited if you are thinking about year around bug out/camping etc. Better have that little Honda generator and some fuel or plan around not having the electronic gadgets, gizmos, and conveniences. Or find a way to keep those batteries warm during the cold. They also don't like real hot temps.

When you use appliances like a toaster, etc. remember that their ratings are measured in Watts/hours. That toaster will actually be running for just a few minutes so therefore it actually uses very little power, over time. Most small appliances have a watt rating somewhere on it. If not it will tell you its Amp rating. Do a little internet search and you will find a whole bunch of confusing info on this subject. For us non electrical dummies, A60 watt light bulb uses 60 watts of power in 1 hour. So if you have a 60 watt toaster running for 1 minute, it has use almost no power 10 watts. Determining just how many Watt/hours ALL of your appliances would draw if operating at once is nice to know, but not really necessary. Only appliances like that little frig, need to be carefully calculated. I have a cheap 750 watt inverter, which runs off of a car battery. For most camp uses that much power (watts) is about your minimum. I have done a lot of study and some research on this subject. I find it all confusing beyond what I've just related, and I may not be entirely correct. However, Dave's big unit is the bomb, plenty of power. ;-)
