Does cost matter when it comes to purchasing flat irons. There’s a huge range and the Revlon is definitely affordable. I have fine hair however it does say it’s a ceramic tourmaline mix.

"You don't even bake cookies at that temperature" had me laughing! Thank you so much for the explanation. Even though I don't use heat on my hair often, maybe once every few months or so, I was in the market to find something that would work well with my fine 4c hair. I now know I shouldn't even look at titanium. Hope you're doing well. 🥰

@GetGlamFam So what if you have a titanium iron and yr hair is low porosity, medium strand thickness... What temp should you use? Or on a tourmaline? What temp should you stay on? Can you give to 400? Is it necessary...for a good silk press?😬

Omg! Someone finally explained the difference between flat irons. I've had a titanium iron and, yes, it burned my hair more times than I can count. I've also had ceramic, which took longer to get my hair straight. Now I understand why and the options that are on the market. Thank you for your thorough explanation.

Honeyyyy when I tell you, I ran out to purchase a ceramic/tourmaline flatiron. I tested the regular ceramic against the ceramic/tourmaline I set both at 375 I parted two even sections on the same side of my head The ceramic poofed within seconds and the tourmaline fought the humidity. The real test will be after I start to sweat in my head Ill use the tourmaline one for the bulk of my hair. Ill use the ceramic on the nape and edges where my hair is finer and crank up the heat to 410. I cant thank you enough.

Linwood, Sir Linwood! Thank you so much for this!!! I'm actually in the market for a new flat iron and really was having a hard time deciding on which kind to buy. But thanks to you, I will clearly be leaving The Titanium Hell Fire Flat Iron the Hell alone. Though I do have thick hair, but I notice now that I'm 64 I notice that it is not as thick in some places. And kinda over the natural but don't really want to go back to relaxers. Cause I grew up where Mom sent me the "Beauty Shop" to get my hair straight cause her arm was getting tired., LOL. I like the look, just don't want to work so hard to get it straight. And a HUGE thanks for the tip of using thinner sections and not passing the iron over and over on the section. I don't flat iron my hair much in the summer, I do in the fall, winter and spring. Thanks again Sir Linwood. Knight of the Shinning Flat Irons! Hug, kisses and best of wishes. 👋🏽👋🏽👏🏽👏🏽😘😘

Thank you for this video! You're the only one I'll listen to about ANYTHING concerning hair!❤ I at times will use a titanium iron, as a professional, i know how to use, and some folks will get one and crank the temp to the highest instead of starting at a low temp, cause that titanium is almost hotter than hell itself...or at least your strands will think so! My hair is medium density, medium porosity...and some folks don't know their density or porosity, so they will misuse/damage their hair. Keep educating with your fantastic content! I love it!🙌🏽

I switched from ceramic to titanium without this knowledge at 400 to 450 degrees. My fine, low density hair was looking split and frayed after a 2 uses. I got a hair cut and started drying my hair in roller sets with a little blow Drying. Occasionally, I blow dry and use my titanium iron at 250 to 300 degrees at most, and I make sure do one pass with tons of heat protectant. My hair is still looking healthy.

OMG, thank you so much, Linwood, for explaining the difference between the types of flat irons and for explaining the proper way to use the tool. A former professional stylist I went to burned the crap out of my hair because he used the hottest settings to blow dry AND to flat iron my fine hair. Additionally, he went over each section repeatedly as you demonstrated in your video. HE is the reason I decided to go natural 9 years ago. I haven't had a flat iron touch my hair since 2014. I've been terrified to do so. In fact, I wouldn't even let anyone blow dry my hair for years because I was terrified of getting heat damage again. I finally (and nervously) let a professional stylist blow dry it for the first time in 2021 in order to get braids for my vacation trip. After seeing your video, I MAY consider getting a silk press. Because of your video, I now know what questions to ask my stylist should I decide to try a silk press. Thank you, again, for educating us!

Thank you!! This video was extremely helpful. Now I need to donate my flat irons as I have the wrong ones but that is ok. I haven’t flat ironed my hair in 2 years. I knew something wasn’t right, now I know why! Thank you very much!!

I have have all the flat irons but I have the water flat iron. But baby I haven't used hit on mine since 2019. I haven't used hairproducts in two years. I chopped for the 3rd time because my hair was long and matted. I was wigging it before my last chop, and now I use clip ins.

My flat iron is about to die. I don't even know what brand it was as the plastic piece broke off years ago. So, I'm doing research on what to buy next. Your video was so clear and very helpful!!!

Thanks for that! I learned about only [1] slow pass rather than going quickly from this video! As far as firing up the oven to 450 degrees, that’s fine for pizza or searing a steak in the oven but I’m not looking to singe My fringe. Thanks again!

Thank you so much explaining. I felt like I was damaging my hair with Titanium. I’ve lowered the temp, started using smaller sections and one pass. After a cut to get rid of some of the damage that I did, I see a difference with my new technique but I think I’m going to still switch back to ceramic or Tourmaline.

Thanks Linwood, I rarely use heat but I have heat implements that I was afraid to use but now I'm better educated on their use. You're absolutely fantastic. Appreciate you. I love watching your videos. Following you across different media platforms for some time and always loved your personality and sense of humor. Thanks again and have a blessed day. 🙏🏽

Love this video! It all makes sense now. I hate that these flat iron companies don’t provide this info, could save a lot of people from damage. My stylist uses a titanium flat iron on my hair and babbyyyy that thing don’t miss! If I style at home, I stick with my Dyson flat iron on the medium setting, cause I ain’t bout to hurt my hair anymore. Recovery takes wayyy to long.

This made SOO MUCH sense for why ceramic-tourmaline straighteners work better than ceramic-only on my hair, but don’t burn my hair like titanium! My titanium babylis not only had weak/gaping clamp, but completely seemed to fry my hair 😢 Is the AG tourmaline your top recommendation for a tourmaline flat iron?

I missed this notification but tbh I dont care about flat irons-watched because I have both, so educational. I still have baby (not adult lol) hair and edges still but you are so dang knowledgeable. I had both but my hair is bleached now. Where were you when I bought my first hot comb, Ive followed you for years. My hair literally, not figuratively sizzled off. I would love to see a short on what size hot comb if I ever hot comb- Maybe an Amazon look at sizes, not full tutorial for those of us that sat through hot combs. Love all your directions but rarely comment and would greatly appreciate a short on it!!
