Thank you for continuing to update us on your hair routine. I remember you and your sister were the first girls that I had ever seen with hair like mine that was long and healthy without a relaxer! You inspired me to start my hair journey and now my hair is down to the middle of my back! Keep inspiring the culture!!!

I put a blue black rinse in my hair this year and loved it! But, of course as rinses are supposed to do it rinsed out. I haven’t permanently colored my hair since Big Chopping in 2015, but watching this may make me change my mind, because black just makes the hair look so much more shiny and healthy! I also love that you aren’t afraid of getting rid of dead ends too! Too many folks be holding onto dead hair for the sake of length and it be looking crazy!

Yes!! I can’t stand seeing people trying to hold on to raggedy ends, it looks so much more healthy and thicker, and your look exactly that, healthy and thicker, besides it’s hair and will grow back. I have a short pixie cut and got mine colored yesterday a d my stylist said I’m going to have to cut your ends, and it said it like he was trying to convince me, I looked at him and said, “ go ahead, I can see right through it, you don’t have to tell me twice”!

Great video! Just some tips & tricks for anyone watching... 10 volume or 5 volume (only professionals can get their hands on 5 volume) mixed with black, permanent color. & that's if you want to never go back light & want the color as dark & rich as possible. If you want to go black but want the possibility of it fading faster & going lighter in the future I would go with a demi-permanent color, which usually requires it's own separate developer. With any color, professional or with Sally's, always use the same brand developer & color. That will ensure the color will last & be accurate to the tone (whether you are using a neutral shade or a blue based black). Putting black color on your ends will not damage them at all! Especially if you are using a quality color that moisturizes the hair while it colors. Your ends should actually feel smoother after a quality dark color service. Lastly, 20 volume like used in the video should only be used on regrowth or "roots" that are gray. 20 volume on the length of your hair so often will lead to the cutical opening to the point of no return where it will eventually be harder for the color to penetrate & last. As well, layering permanent color over the ends will eventually lead to the hair looking darker & less on tone with the color you chose. So your regrowth will be colored black & rich, but your mids & ends will look oversaturated & dull.

My hair is just like this I started watching y’all when y’all used to share rooms and I never comment but I’m going on to start now. I used to wear weaves 24/7 and knew a little bit of caring for my natural hair. My hair curly is the length of my hair straight a long time ago. You and Kendra really help me grow my hair. Everybody thinks it a weave and it’s so annoying cause I grew this shit lol. Keep doing y’all I will forever be a supporter.

Maybe use a separate bowl with 10vol for the ends. This will keep you from double processing those ends. Remember that color doesn’t lift color so putting the 20vol on already lifted hair can dry out your ends. Love watching you guys. Hope you know this is coming from a good place. #acosmetologist
