I'm currently playing Oblivion for the first time. In my game, Toutius Sextius first claimed to me that he doesn't know Glarthir, only to gossip in Castle Skingrad with THREE people about Glarthir (he started the topic!). But in the evening, he talked with that High Elven farmer man outside the West Gate about Glarthir. And the High Elf replied IN THE SAME CONVERSATION with "did you know that if you murder someone, the Dark Brotherhood will come to you while you sleep?"!!! That was just a codeword! THEY PLAN TO MURDER POOR GLARTHIR TO JOIN THE DARK BROTHERHOOD! First Toutius Sextius tried to find allies in the court to murder him, but then he conspired with the Thalmor agent to murder a Bosmer! I pushed Toutius Sextius down the bridge on his way to Castle Skingrad (took me 20 minutes to do so), but not before showing him Glarthir's note, so he could know that his evil plans are unveiled!

6:57 "Don't let Salmo get his bread, or he might be rich but we'll all be DEAD!" I'd read Salmo's page on the TES unofficial wiki. It comments that despite being a very popular baker, he's poor. Also he has AI packages that were supposed to let him bring bread to the local inns. A dev put in another AI package to prevent this presumably because of what happens if the player places bread into Salmo's inventory: he'll take the bread to the inn, take a bite of it, and the whole game will crash. Young Scrolls, I hope you're happy. I was driving the other day listening to Nutty when the lyric webbed together my memories of the TES wiki like 😮 and I am now Sheogorath touched like Glarthir.

NUTTY is the first and only studio album by Bosmer rapper Glarthir. It was published posthumously, as Glarthir disappeared and was declared dead some time after recording it. Critically acclaimed upon release, NUTTY is considered the first rap opera. Semi-autobiographical, the album's first track CRINGE depicts Glarthir discovering he is wanted for murder. After he is taken away at the end of this first track, the rest of the album reveals aspects of his past and ultimately the crime which he is being hunted for in CRINGE. This circular narrative has been noted for its resemblance to the Wheel; some reviewers believe Glarthir to be teaching others the secrets of CHIM through this structure, while others decry him as a would-be Sharmat.

Pretty sure there isn't anybody else out there doing anything even remotely similar to this concept. The concept is so smart and crafty but it's nothing without the insanely high quality lyrics that are created for the project. Every lyric feels canonical. The amount of game universe lore knowledge put in to every song and even every line is just insane. Just goes to show that the creator has such a deep love for the Elder Scrolls world and took it to levels never seen before in gaming or pop culture history. Young Scrolls is unironically producing some of the best pop music of the modern era, and in so many different subgenres. He is a master of the modern musical archetype. The fact that he chose to use this gift on such a niche audience as Elder Scrolls fans is truly the blessing of a selfless artist who is devoted to his craft.

I’m thinking chronologically speaking the 2nd track is actually the first in the timeline. He seems to make a deal for money which drives him insane. In the 5th track he turns into the murder that appears in the wanted posters in the 1st track. The 1st track is actually the last in the timeline. This is why when he says “I’M FREEEEEEE!” at the end, it carries over to the first track, because the story transitions from the 5th to the 1st track, then ends.
@imeantherearethedarktownsy52102 жыл бұрын
I think it's difficult to find a chronological timeline though, because we know Glarthir's psyche is frail and it's all from his perspective. Maybe FREAK takes place after his first murders, and he just doesn't know he's the real murderer he's fleeing from. Maybe 3 SEPTIMS takes place in his head, too; after all, we don't know if he ever actually did have a wife as he claims in CRINGE, and so maybe he made up all of 3 SEPTIMS as an insane daydream to help him rationalise his murders.

Do you like Young Scrolls? Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Zoom came out in '18, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Young Scrolls has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor. In '22, Young Scrolls released this, NUTTY, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "WATCH OUT", a song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity, and the importance of trends, it's also a personal statement about the band itself.

@Ratstranger2 жыл бұрын
I got a feeling 3 septims is actually Glarthir's backstory. He was poor and he went to a mage, asking for riches. Mage gave him what he wanted, but warned about price. Glarthir get everything he wanted from life: money, women, etc. but as a price he started to develop paranoidal schizophrenia about everyone trying to take his wealth from him. Also. Lil Sheo appearing and saying he will take him and looped ending/begining could suggest whole album happens in Shivering Isles, Glarthir is reliving his life's experience over and over again as punishment/reward.
@Glaedrein2 жыл бұрын
Tbh that's the vibe I got from it too. It's a story, but out of order.
@Ratstranger2 жыл бұрын
@@Glaedrein Yeah, something like this: 3 septims (backstory) -> Watch out! (onset of the paranoia) - > Poison (Glarthir start to thinking about killing people) -> Freak (he murders people) -> Cringe (Glarthir wanders around completely deranged, finds his "Wanted" picture. Guard appears to arrest him. Glarthir tries to exonerate himself, but guard turns out to be Sheo in disguise and takes Glarthir with him to Shivering Isles. There he starts to relive his life, but it's disjointed, because he's completely mad by now).
@imeantherearethedarktownsy52102 жыл бұрын
@@Ratstranger Maybe the story actually starts at CRINGE, after murders not connected to those in FREAK (he just links them together in his head). He's paranoid from his murders, externalising them in the form of a mystery Brotherhood assassin (which he mentions in WATCH OUT). 3 SEPTIMS is Glarthir, going insane, inventing for himself a better life but finding his paranoid schizophrenia leak through anyway (this is why the whole song has such a strange, fairy tale like structure) and the illusion collapsing. WATCH OUT, then, is him wandering Skingrad warning people about the danger he has imagined (which is actually him being unable to deal with the blood on his hands) and stating facts about Skingrad (talk to Dorian in Talos Plaza, etc) to make himself feel like he's sane. In POISON he builds up a rage again, wanting to kill, and in FREAK he's so nervous and deranged that he murders a local party of people, starting the cycle in his fragmented memories again.

The music and lyrics are fire as always, but I'm honestly impressed more than anything by the narrative Young Scrolls put together for this EP: CRINGE: Glarthir is "framed" for mass murder and taken to the Shivering Isles 3 SEPTIMS: Glarthir makes a deal with a "mage" for wealth, but is cursed with Paranoia (I think the mage is probably Sheo in disguise as well, especially because you can lowkey hear "RUNNING IN CIRCLES" in parts of the bassline and this is exactly the kind of prank he pulls in the lore) WATCH OUT!!!: Glarthir tries to get the word out about Daedric Princes and their meddling (after his experience with Sheo) but is brushed off as being paranoid, probably because at this point he is also genuinely paranoid from his curse POISON: not too sure how this fits in to the story tbh, but worth it for the POW-POW-POWDERED DEER PENIS FREAK: Glarthir actually COMMITS the mass murder, and the EP loops back to track 1, where it becomes evident he wasn't really "framed" after all I honestly think the story here starts with Track 2, the only track where he's sane (at the start, anyway)
@pumpkwin2 жыл бұрын
I think Poison signifies Glarthir succumbing to his curse, and his resentment for others not listening to the warnings in WATCH OUT turning his thoughts to violence.
