They (as well as Rolex, Omega, et al) are not saying that 300 meters = 1000 feet. They're telling people who think in meters that the watch is water resistant to 300 meters and they're telling people who think in feet that it's good to 1000 feet. Their testing equipment may say its good to 346.3 meters/1136.2 feet. Most buyers aren't going to take it deeper than the middle of a swimming pool and prefer a round number estimate on the dial, rather than a theoretical number with irrelevant precision.

At Glashütte Original swan neck regulators are manufactured in a complex process by hand. They need 8h for 120 of them. A maschine would need 1 minute. The swan neck regulators are then polished to a high shine using a traditional tin process. This is done with a special tin block that has diamond powder applied to it
