Window > Settings/Preferences > Plug-in Manager find Mayatomr.mill and check Load and Auto load options then click on the refresh button

Maya comes with mental ray as standard but it is still considered a plug in. If you go to Window>Settings and Preferences>Plug-in Manager there should be an option (depending on which version of Maya you are using) called matatomr.mll near/at the bottom of the list. Make sure that both "Loaded" and "Auto-Load" options are ticked and mental ray will become available. You shouldn't need to restart Maya.

Also, how do you move the light ray of the area light.. i noticed to just clicked and it had a separate light almost that you dragged down through the glass

How to visualize the element list on left? (pCilinder1, pCilinder2...etc..)

Same, I have "mental ray" but not the material.
