Glass Beach, Kauai

There's a unique place on Kauai - one you need to see! Depending on recent weather conditions, the beach might be covered in bits of sea glass. Most of the time the pieces are small and you might need to look a bit closer to see what all the excitement is about.

If u walk up onto the hillside to the left, there is an olds Japanese cemetery. Unfortunately, it is also a dumping ground for abandoned cars

Aloha Penny. Not to get nitpicky, but it's a Chinese cemetery where plantation workers were buried back in the days of sugar cane. The cars are the less-than-delightful result of the homeless explosion that happened after the COVID shutdown. The area used to be a really nice place to visit. Today, not so much.

Aloha Jessica. I'm wondering where I can catch your stand-up routine?😂 I understand that you're joking but it really is disappointing to go there and see no glass but to see people collecting the smallest imaginable grains because they're just desperate to take anything at all. Every once in a while, when the weather conditions are just right, the beach gets a significant amount of glass deposits. It takes no more than a few days before it's stripped clean of decent sized pieces. 😢

@@kauaiadventureguide3332 I'm baffled how anyone can think it's best to leave human trash in the ocean and on the beaches. If only we could make it a fun activity to clean up trash in other places too...
