The shark at Lydgate beach is a black tip shark. The lifeguard told us it is very docile. And he was right..... It swam right past my wife and she was recording on her GoPro!!!! We have video of it and it blew out mind. Thanks for these videos of Kauai. We love it there. Can't wait to move their in the near future.

For sure! The man-of-war was far more dangerous than the shark! So cool that you got a shot on your GoPro!

I've snorkeled at all the the beaches you mentioned and pretty much agree with your rating. We also enjoy Salt Pond near Eleele on the south side but perhaps this is more just swimming than snorkeling!

Thanks for sharing! Salt Pond Beach made our top 10 Kauai beaches list. It is a nice cove and I love Hanapepe Town.

We are divers. It is SO SAD to see the marine life is gone. Back in the 80's you could walk out 10 feet and be surrounded by fish.

It wasn't popping with marine life during our visits. It has changed a lot.

All of SE Asian beaches are filled with trash…they just dump because they are “developing nations.” Really awful. Hawaii still better than there by a landslide

Awesome tips as always! We went to Kaua'i during the winter and stayed right on top of Hideaways Beach (beautiful view) but didn't get to experience snorkeling there or Ke'e or Makua because of said swells! Hiking Kalalau made up for it though. Poipu snorkeling was amazing though, and we saw the largest sea turtle we have ever seen there. Looking forward to getting back there again soon.

Kauai is tough for snorkeling due to those winter waves. We did our best to stress it so we keep visitors and rescue crews out of the water! I'm glad you got to the south shore. We love that area of Princeville. I was looking forward to Hideaways Beach but they closed it (for good reason) so I respected the sign. I'm glad I got to see it in 2020.

Great video, thank you. Where is the best and safest place at the end of March? Is there anywhere to rent or buy inflatable snorkel vests?

Where we should store our car keys or valuables when we go out to snorkeling? Is there lockers near every beach? Love your videos and will head to Maui beginning of Feb. look forward to this real question 🙋♀️

@@summerliu3394 my wife has one that she uses for open water swims and we used in Hawaii for snorkeling. We also used a phone bag inside of that as double protection from water intrusion.

I know that the surf can get pretty rough at times during the winter on the North Shore. I'm planning on being in Kauai at the end of September and the very beginning of October. How do you think the snorkeling at Tunnels and Anini beach will be? Will the conditions be good? Thanks!
@TheHawaiiVacationGuide2 жыл бұрын
we talk about ocean safety a lot in our newsletter. Check this website before you head out: hawaiibeachsafety.com/ Conditions change so can't say how those places will be when you're there

Great video! I love following your content and am thinking about getting your Kauai itinerary. Do you guys offer an itinerary directed towards a more adventurous couple looking for more advanced hikes and snorkeling? I noticed a lot of the suggestions on your videos are more beginner level spots but we are searching for a little more.
@TheHawaiiVacationGuide2 жыл бұрын
The Kauai itinerary is activebut made for all ages. For more advanced hikes, you can find them in waimea canyon or outside hanalei on AllTrails. We have an adventure itinerary for Maui only at this time.

I just went recently and the water at Ke'e beach was a bit rougher than Tunnels. Both were amazing though.

thanks for sharing! Ke'e gets rough as we get closer to the winter. We are more cautious about recommending North Shore beaches due to the weather.

Lydgate beach is undoubtedly the best snorkeling beach IMO. I have seen huge schools of these big blue 🐟 fishes (along with the typical smaller fish) and it's 100% safe for kids of any age because of the man made reef.

Ke'e Beach is now a nightmare for visitors and tourists, since (2019) they went to the requirement for an entrance pass and parking pass. Yes, the parking now is better organized, and they have a dedicated parking lot. However, getting a pass and parking pass is incredibly painful. If you are off island (East Coast USA) for a summer visit, then you will have to get up in the middle of the night to "try" to get a pass when they become available 30 days prior, at 12 midnight HST. In a matter of 3 minutes, all passes will be gone for a date 30 days out. Most tourists will only see this beach once, if at all, as even the shuttle is $40 round trip, and usually the last option. The county/state needs to review, and increase the number of visitors per day. I was a full time resident for many years, still own property on the island, and while I continue to visit Kauai twice a year, I have yet to see the parking lot, beach, or trail even remotely crowded. As usual, the state "bends a knee" to permanent residents, and ensures they have the benefit of enjoying access whenever desired.

hideaways the best snorkeling beach in kauai 🤷♂
@TheHawaiiVacationGuide2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing. The county has closed access due to safety issues per the sign at the entrance of the stairs.
