Hey Peter, recently I made a drawing that is inspired from your amazing abstract artworks. It however doesn't have as strong tones between values like you can hit because I've just been using this crappy lead pencil lol. But I would like to show you it but I don't know how. Soon after the lead drawing though even after all the shading I agreed with a couple of girls who are insane painters to paint it for me because I suck at that. But before I do that I want to show you this piece so you can critique it somehow but I don't know how. :(
@peter_draws8 жыл бұрын
Well I don't really critique other people's art very often; I don't really like telling people how to do their art, because I don't like people telling me how to do my art. It's such a personal thing. Just pour yourself into your art, everything you have. It's difficult to do; naturally we hold back almost everything. That said, anyone can always tag me on instagram or send me a DM or send me an email (peterdraws1@gmail.com (I'm terrible at responding to emails though :( )) and I'll look at it, but I'm not going to tell you how to change your art. :)

Art is a very tricky intellectual process. Some people told me the same (I don't understand how your brain does that.), and I don't understand some other people. But in the end, all we need to do is enjoy, accept the emotions and the thoughts the art brings us. You should try to draw too. Teaching yourself to try to add abstract elements might help you understand yourself more.
@333Vampirewillrule338 жыл бұрын
N The One I do draw, I have for most of my life. However, the art I create is symbolic surrealism (leaning towards a Salvador Dali look) which is nothing as odd and fantastic as these doodles are. I love art, have always loved it, it's just that sometimes my rational thinking is trying to pick apart the irrational perfection in abstract art.
@TheHiroyukiutatane8 жыл бұрын
*+Hope Lee* If you don't have a naturally creative mind like some crazy talents like Peter, you can always dissect an art into pieces and elements, go through trials and errors combining those elements together, eventually replicating the original piece or something even better. It's also important how you connect those elements together. As you can see in the video, the elements are inherently difference but are finely drawn and well blended together. Unity.
@333Vampirewillrule338 жыл бұрын
Uta Hiro i understand what you are suggesting but i don't think in lines and shapes, i think in colours and music. I doubt I would ever create a freeform of lines.
@TheHiroyukiutatane8 жыл бұрын
*Hope Lee* I see. I'm just giving my advice as someone who doesn't have the creativity of many talented artists out there but still want to be able to reach a professional level, so mostly I use references, learn specific techniques, and do lots of practice sketches and idea brainstorming. It's way more calculated, time-consuming, and less natural than someone who already has crazy creativity, but it's something most people can learn and achieve if they put time, efforts, and their mind into it.

This is awesome, although I feel the need to clarify that it is not a "grinding stone", but an ink holder/container (or whatever you'd like to call it) as well, called "Yan". So technically, you don't NEED to move the ink into a glass holder, but you can choose whatever you like.
@peter_draws8 жыл бұрын
I mostly moved it into another container so that the ink would be "deeper" instead of a shallow puddle which makes it easier to load up the glass dip pen. I would have no reason to transfer the ink to a different container if I was just using a brush of some sort.

Peter, my family has a bunch of Chinese calligraphy stuff. Apparently my dad used to do calligraphy for money. This is how I learned to use inksticks. 1. Put some water into an ink-dish thing. 2. Grind the inkstick in it until it's kinda sticky and very dark. 3. Soak the brush in the ink, sort of wipe the dripping excess off on the rim of a cup or something. 4. Make the tip of the brush all pointy by wiping the brush on the rim again. 5. Hold the brush in a position that is completely irrelevant to you because you're using a glass dip pen. You've pretty much got all the important bits down.

Stylised abstract art is so amazing to watch, your mind sort of creates its own depiction of his art as he draws more and more. Stuff like this is so awesome to watch and it’s entertaining to read the comments. He was just having fun being creative with new tools 🙂
