Okay, maybe I'm not getting it. That's not glass engraving, it's glass scratching. When I think of glass engraving, I think of things that look like cut crystal. Deeply contoured and complex shapes. That's not what I'm seeing here. Kudos to the ladies for their projects, but perhaps this would be better described as glass etching.

Engraving of glass is by many different techniques, you refer to cut crystal, that is copper wheel engraving, this is diamond point engraving (although using a bur of coated diamond grit as opposed to an industrial diamond) and this is a technique of glass engraving which includes stipple, and linear engraving. Then there is drill engraving (surface or intaglio style) and also sandblasting is a technique of glass engraving too....in the UK we refer to glass etching as acid etching and that is yet another technique of "glass engraving" . Nowadays machines such as laser and computerised diamond, are also engraving techniques. So to correct you, indeed this IS "glass engraving" in its most basic form and how many students like Sam and Jenny here (and myself over 40 years ago) start their journey.
