xTool F1 to Engrave Glass

How is your experience so far with engraving glass? Is it working with the F1? And do you need to darken the surface or can you engrave on it directly? I'm also considering to buy an F1 :)

@@julianfrey5930 Hi Julian, I have found that using a water based pouring acrylic black paint on the inside of the glass works well. I tend to pour in sufficient to cover the surface, roll it around until the glass is coated evenly and then leave it to dry on a radiator. It will just wash off after engraving. I also find that 2 passes brings out the best result. I'm still new at this, but this laser is very fast and very versatile. Good luck.

I have found during my experiments with my F1 that Black Tempura paint will also work when etching glass, as a plus I think it cleans up a little faster and as an added bonus you should be able to find in your local Dollar type stores.

I appreciate you doing the video, I don't understand why the perimeter in diameter was not discussed. My first image came out short and super wide, distorting my image.

This particular jar had flat sides so I didn't need to worry about curves. I should work on a new tutorial for that!

Hello, Very nice video. I am doing different types of material as I learn. I just bought the F1. Is there any other type of paint material that would work other than acrylic paint that is easy to clean off?

Chalk paint is really easy to clean off. And xTool actually makes a black paper for laser engraing - I haven't tried it, but they have obviously! amzn.to/4bEXoRj

Thank you! My paint is taking a while to dry :/ If all it's doing is making the glass opaque, do we need to wait for the paint to fully dry before engraving? Or we can do it while still pretty wet?

I haven't tried it so I don't know for sure! I would worry that if it was shiny at all it would cause issues. Can you set a hair dryer to cool, or have a fan on it for a bit?

i have creative space 2024 with xtool F1 and I cannot find that font you are using? is it an extra download..? also my text only shows up on my canvas and that seems to be the only place I can see where to write anything? any help would be appreciated ;-)

I didn't use a pre-set material, just user defined.

I didn't time it exactly but I think about 5 minutes or so, start to finish.

Is there a specific Creative space for the F1 on a laptop?

It's the same Creative Space for any xTool - but you do have to connect it to the machine - cable or WiFi.

Witam mam taką poradę co sam stosuję do słoików i szklanek. Zamiast malować farbą trzymam chwilę nad parą i sypię cynamon, wstrząsam by się przykleił do ścianek i jest gotowe do grawerowania. Wystarczy potem zmyć wodą, proszę spróbować, a nie będzie Pani malować słoiczków i szybciej będzie.
