This was such a good book, but Mare got on my nerves a bit with her complaining, and inability to trust anyone (though she does have good reason for this.) I like that the series isn't based around hers and Cal's or Mavens relationship but so often I crave a little more romance. And I fear that her pushing Cal away and not opening up to him with make him disappear which would crush me. But on a different note I know the lack of romance makes those scenes 10x more meaningful and special and I do appreciate the less is more approach.

maybe those thoughts was the only thing she was hanging on too, because it truly made her feel like she had a purpose and without her power she just went back to being a normal 17 year old. Although they are just fictional characters, the author wants to make their thoughts (repetitive or not) as humanly as possible.

I really like mare though, maybe because she's very relatable like how she's not sure most of the time. the part when she feels like there's no one to console her hits me hard because we all need someone to be there and she went through all that alone is really sad. I like her flaws are what makes her so human, and not just a typical generic badass female character.

SPOILERS Oh my god!!! My mom is convinced Cal is going to die trying to save Mare...I would not be able to handle it. Is it bad that Cal is my favorite character in this? He's a true Silver and he's saving the asses of all those Red ones! And the scene where he says "love is blind", oh my gosh... I liked Red Queen a lot more. I thought that Mare was a little annoying with Cal because she doesn't trust him but can't let him go. The Shade thing was really sad. It took me a really long time to get into this book. I just thought it was slow. I also thought Cal was kinda frustrating to because he and Mare had a lot of tension. I understand why but... I felt that a lot of newbloods were thrown at me and I couldn't keep them straight and what there abilities are. Overall I'm glad I read the book and I did enjoy it but it wasn't as good as Red Queen. I'm excited for the next book because I really liked when Mare was in the palace. I'm not happy she's there but I think it will be interesting and how she gets out. I really hope that Mare and Cal start trusting each other more because I do really like them and I want them together. Wow I feel like I just write a book but I had to get my feeling out lol. 😂😊

I literally just finished Glass Sword and I came right to your review because I wanted to see what your thoughts were and if you were thinking the same things that I was while reading this excellent book. Personally I gave the book a rating of 5/5 stars and saw that you gave it a 4/5, which isn't that much of a difference, I was just wondering your reason for your rating. Also, when Shade died, I cried so much. My older brother walked when right as I was crying, which he seems to do a lot, and just slowly closed my door, awkwardly, which made me laugh through the pain. And the ending, god the end got me. I did not cry however, I almost did.

The third book was the best SPOILER Purely because we got to see Mavens character more. Also there is something so appealing about him only loving her, in his own very dark and twisted way he went to great lengths to protect her but like also kept her prisoner. And in the bathtub scene she had a perfect chance to drown Maven and she didn’t, which shows us that she still cares about him. And then... she slept with Cal and it all went to hell. To me because I’m still shipping Maven and Mare, I was honestly hoping that she would become a monster like Maven, yet somehow managed to build a better democracy, I felt like that would have been really interesting to read. I also love the fact that she can sort of become really cold hearted and get stuff done. Her and Maven are very alike to me in that way. And as Maven said Cal can’t make decisions. Tell me whatever the hell you want but Maven as the king with cold hearted Mare the lightning girl at his side would have been incredibly interesting.

I, at the middle of the book, since it was obvious that Farley was pregnant, thought: "Either she dies with the baby like Raven did on "Delirium" or he dies and she's a 'widow' and a single mom". Guess who was right? I hate that he died, he would've been a wonderful father. It's even harder if you read "Steel Scars", there's where I fell in love with them as a couple.

The one thing that bothered me a little was that in the first book Mare was all like “I’ll act as a silver if that keeps my familly safe” and “Please Cal, let me see my familly one more time”. But in the second book she just left her familly and didn’t even think about ghem or the fact that they may be in danger because she escaped. After a while she brought this up and said “How could I forget them just like that?”, but still! 😂

I love the book series. This seriously needs to be turned into a movie. The first book was very cinematic and I kind of saw the plot twist coming. The second book for me was good, but there were times the story fell flat. Her writing is great, and I love the storyline and it just has to be turned into a movie

Oh my goodness I am right there with you! I just can't with this book. I literally had an emotional breakdown when I finished it and I just. I'm still reeling over this book and I finished it three days ago. I devoured this entire series in basically three days. So good. I'm not sure if I'm okay with you know that person dying, like who's going to get them out of scrapes? They needed that person! Why would you do this to me Aveyard? Why?

I read both books and loved them, especially Glass Sword! If you are interested in Farley, read Steel Scars, its a small novel about Farley's life

AGH! I finished this today and am very conflicted. This sequel was amazing, but Mare is in a terrible spot to start off the third book and I just cannot wait to read what happens. The problem is... THE THIRD BOOK COMES OUT FEBRUARY 17, 2017!! That is so far away!
