Thanks for explaining your workflow and your rationale. I am impressed with the 600 ipm cutting speed; we tend to get nervous using that high a speed for traversing with our ShopBot.
@GlassImpressions
@GlassImpressions 6 жыл бұрын
Our move speed is much faster than 600 IPM. Our cutting speeds for cabinet and closet work are around 450. For products that we run, we R&D the heck out of the process to develop confident process reliability so we can be as efficient as possible. In our production runs, we are actually waiting on the CNC to finish so any seconds we can eliminate the from the machine is a big help.

Is it possible to make the whole bottom part of the unit slotted for cordless tools ? I have multiple Ridgid cordless tools (18V/12V) and Ridgid pneumatic staplers and nail guns (2-18g brad and staple gun , 1-16g , 1-23g

Wouldn’t you want to have your toolpath for your dados and rabbets before your profile cuts just because of the added stability?
@GlassImpressions
@GlassImpressions 6 жыл бұрын
The Hamlin Woodshop I found I had better cutting results by doing them after. With the tabs, stability wasn’t an issue.

Glass Impressions I was wondering that Andy. Cleaner cuts I suppose. Thanks!

My CNC is a 2x4 Laguna IQ Pro (expanded) - how difficult is it to alter the CNC files to work with smaller pieces of wood (no room in my garage shop for a full-size CNC).

Lawrence Becker do you have Vcarve Pro or aspire? Are you comfortable using it? If so, easy! If not, then very hard
@LDBecker

@@GlassImpressions The CNC isn't here yet - having it custom built with 12" gantry and 2x4 table and ATC. Ordered it with Aspire. Probably here in "2-3 weeks" - haha... already been that long. I'm pretty good with computers and other design software (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), and don't have too many worries about it. And I've been playing with Aspire for a couple of years prior to buying it... I was just concerned that the parts were locked somehow to one size board. Sounds like it's a standard Vectric file that can be manipulated normally, right?

Very interesting video Andy. Thanks for posting. Do you think you could have managed the whole workflow using Fusion 360 instead of sketchup and vector?
@GlassImpressions
@GlassImpressions 6 жыл бұрын
I find fusion 360 very cumbersome for 2.5D CNC Router Work. I find with wood, plastics, and softer metals, as long as you keep your speeds and feed correct, you can run some solid CAM. When you get into more delicate materials, more sophisticated CAM strategies are beneficial.

You must use a roundover bit for the tool bays, otherwise the sharp edges will mark the tools over time.
