I totally agree with Mr.TS.Gopal. I am not well verse in carnatic music. But I am the person who deeply involved along with flow of music. In this kriti, TMK has mesmerised me fully. Thanks a lot to him and his accompaniments.

the inimitable TMK singing this kriti with a lot of vishranthi I never heard this kriti this way every vidwan or vidushi indulge into gimmickery with the words 'paluku paluku' and with the pallavi itself as 'ramani samanamevaru' thanks a ton to TMK and his introspective raga bhava
@Aslesha2k1110 жыл бұрын
I agree TMK sings neraval as his abundant creativity guides. But that does not mean others are bad and what you call gimmicks of others could be their way of interpretation and there are sections of audience who are as ignorant as I am and enjoy their singing too. Comparison should be avoided and enjoy each on his her own merits. Or else we will be no better the Raja ARR fans. Any day I prefer TMKs neraval take on "meenalochani" in meenakshi memudham. Introspection in excess is also not welcome since the audience is always a mixed one and come to be entertained not educated.

Sir T. M. Krishna, I request you to Kindly keep the integrity of the words. Tene + Oluku becomes Teneloluku. If and when when pausing after Tene, kindly use Oluku. "Loluku" sounds odd as there is no word as such. The only reason for this request is there are so many followers looking up to you and the chances are very high that they sing the same and it carries from generation to generation.
@tyagarajakinkara10 жыл бұрын
sir the original patham of the kriti is PALUKU PALUKULAKU TENELU OLUKU and not TENE OLUKU as you mention even in SUBBARAMA DIKSHITAR'S book on tyagaraja kritis and the walajapet patham,tillaistanam patham of tyagaraja sishya parampara these are the words and this is the patham the truth is that TYAGARAJASWAYMY USED THE PLURAL OF SODARULU WHOSE PALUKULU TENELOLUKUNU HENCE SODARU'LU' AND TENE'LU' HENCE THE PLURALITY OF CASE IS NOTICED regards
@nmuralimohan437710 жыл бұрын
Dear Mr. Neelotpal Firstly, I liked your name Neelotpal. It is like tene (honey). Secondly, it is correct that Tenelu + Oluku = Teneloluku. Thirdly, I liked you pointing out Sodarulu and Tenelu (this kind of prasam is typical of Tyagaraja - My Guru Late Sri T. K. Govinda Rao told me). Coming back to my second point, Mr. T. M. Krishna has been consistently singing by splitting Tene BIG BREAK Loluku maata when he sings the nereval. My appeal to the singer has been not to break Tene "Pause" and then say loluku. Instead, sing it as one word - Teneloluku. I wrote an email to him in this regard few years back. As such, there is no word in Telugu called "loluku". And it sounds very odd. If you say Tene and then pause one must say oluku and not loluku. No Telugu dictionary defines that word. The better thing for the singer would have been to say Teneloluku without a pause/break. Again, my concern is, there are so many followers doing the same mistake - or shall we call it an aberration. Thanks, Murali

I agree sir the grammatical aspect of the language comes to the fore here the GUNA SANDHI connects the two words into one TENELU OLUKU as TENELOLUKU but the great musicologist maestro PROF SRIPADA PINAKAPANI GARU also held the same view that sahitya should be split as 'paluku palukulaku tene loluku for the roopakam to set in .he used to hold a view that if one wants to savour the sahitya why don't they sit at home and read a commentary on tyagarajaswamy's sahitya acumen why do they come to listen to a sangeeta kutcheri where they find faults with the splitting of the syllables AS A TORCH BEARER OF THE TANJAVUR BANI WHICH WAS TAUGHT TO HIM BY THE LATE RANGARAMANUJA IYENGARVAL,he had clear view about things related to kriti singing,though I beg to differ from the GURU of legends like VOLETI,NEDUNURI,MALLADI BROTHERS that sahitya is secondary in a katcheri I respect your deep interest in the clear enunciation of lyrics my salutations to you as an esteemed, fortunate disciple of the GREAT TKG SIR regards
Prabha Anipindi Most artists are very well aware that Carnatic music revolves around the compositions. Hence, they make it a point to know and understand the meaning of the song, if not each and every word. They know the meanings of the songs very well and also the context in which they may have been composed. And that is why they pick the nereval spots very intelligently, enhancing the sahitya bhava of the chosen sentence (at least, that is the purpose of nereval theoretically), without compromising the raga bhava. The only problem is, they may not know the sandhis and samasams involved in the song, as much as a person who learnt the language in the schools, like you and me does. This is understandable, because when we sing a Sanskrit krithi, we may not know the meaning of every word, although we understand the overall meaning. People like M. D. Ramanathan, G. N. B., Patnam Subramaniam Iyer, among others learnt the language and wrote compositions in Telugu!!! Also, Late Sri Musiri Subramaniam Iyer placed lot of emphasis on Sahithya bhava. Their school of thought clearly says sahitya bhava is very important in Carnatic music. While artists know the sahityam very well and some might ignore it in the name of Vidwat pradarshana. That is an unfortunate trend.
