Beautiful composition seeking refuge at Lord Vishnau, is perfectly set in Bahudari ( also sings in Kaanada Ragam too by vocalists in cutcheries) that does not contain Rishabham. It is called a shadava-audava rāgam; 6 notes in ascending and 5 notes in descending scale wherein no Dhaivatham in the descending scale alone, which adds melody! The composition entails minute gamakas which is visible in Anupllavi nd Charanam....that is the USP.....Here the video commenced after ragaalapana, of course the violin did play the same nicely. Even the Charanam ....'kalashAmbudhilO dayatO nama...gopikalakai konda letta ledaa' line were initiated by Violin and the vocalist gave the second fiddle! The Kalpanaswarams excellent .Class recital by TMK ...Best wishes, .

Loved this one.. he doesn't call violin and mridangam as accompanist..instead he introduces them as companion in concert, which means all are given the same weightage..look at the way they sit .. hence the format of his katcheri differs from others

I am not a true Rasika. I enjoy music if it is pleasing to my ears, and if it vibrates my senses, even more enjoyable. So, my advance apology if my comments offend anyone. First, my salutations to the composer, Sri. Kavi Thyagaraja. Violin was very good, with proper control of the instrument. The vocalist's, T.M. Krishna's, voice modulations and inflections were excellent. His voice, at times, was harsh to my ears and senses, not a melodious one. Overall, this rendering is very nice.
